This Dana Buchman shoulder bag has a wonderfully polished late-20th-century look, finished in a dark metallic pewter faux patent with the DB monogram embossed across the surface. The compact rectangular body is divided across the front with two useful pockets, each secured by its own substantial Dana Buchman push-lock clasp. A full-width zip runs across the top, and the long adjustable strap lets the bag sit comfortably at the shoulder or a little lower on the body.

DESIGNER INFORMATION: American designer Dana Buchman launched her namesake label under Liz Claiborne in 1987 after earlier work with Christian Dior and Ellen Tracy. Known initially as an upscale womenswear line, the Dana Buchman name also extended into handbags and accessories. Buchman became a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 1991.

This designer Doris de Pont jacket is cut from a silk with a metallic sheen, striped in silver, navy and burnt orange. The notched collar folds back in a solid red, the only break from the stripe running through the rest of the jacket. Three self covered buttons close the front, and two rounded pockets sit at the hip, each lined in the same red as the collar. The sleeves finish at three quarter length, and the jacket sits cropped at the waist, giving it a neat, boxy shape.

The cropped length and boxy shape sit just at the waist. The red collar offers a flash of colour, the three quarter sleeve pairs well layered over a long sleeve top, or worn on its own over a simple dress. The pockets are functional as well as decorative.

These mother-of-pearl screwback earrings have that lovely softly luminous finish that only shell can give, with each irregularly shaped piece catching flashes of cream, blush and pale silvery green as the light moves across the surface.
