Entire Collection

You see the collar first. Wide, white, squared across the back and falling rounded at the front, each one finished with a cloth patch of an embroidered navy anchor and a red lifebuoy. Under it the cotton is a warm mid grey, buttoned the full length of the front with small gilt centred buttons, and the short sleeves carry double white ribbon banding at the cuff. A self-fabric belt runs through loops at the waist and fastens with a scalloped gold tone buckle, and the shorts below fall in soft pleats.

Follow the nautical thread or ignore it completely. Add fun white leather sneakers and keep this an easy look. Flat sandals or espadrilles put another twist on this cute jumpsuit. One piece, one decision, and you are dressed.

This grey strapless dress has that wonderful party shape that makes you understand why earlier cocktail dresses still turn heads. The skirt opens out from the waist with plenty of volume and a softly rounded almost puff skirt style hem finish. The interesting floral line pattern sits across the grey background rather than over it, which gives the whole dress a lovely silvery, evening-ready feel without needing sparkle.

Wear it with pewter heels (have you seen our Metallic Pewter Leather Pumps), a silver mesh bag and a little black cardigan when you want a classic evening line, or make it a little more edgy with raspberry lipstick and a cropped denim jacket. It is a brilliant dress for anyone who likes their occasion wear pretty, practical and just a bit old-movie without needing to arrive in a limousine.

A labelled Park Lane Regal Mesh shoulder bag with that fabulous mid-century Australian metal mesh finish. The aluminium mesh is made from small linked tiles in a deep silver tone, giving the surface a fluid, rippled fall across the front and sides. The structured silver-tone frame has a lightly textured finish, a ball kiss-lock clasp and a slim chain handle that sits neatly over the shoulder or in the hand. Inside, the pale satin-style lining has an internal pocket and the surviving label reads Made by Park Lane Handbags N.S.W. Genuine Regal Mesh.

Carry it with a satin camisole and wide-leg trousers, a fabulous vintage dress from another era, or a cream silk blouse and pencil skirt. Bring out the colour of the bag pairing with silver jewellery. It also has excellent dinner-out look with a charcoal knit and metallic sandals.

Gunmetal metal mesh gives these hoop drop earrings a lovely textural bite, with faceted, scale-like pieces worked around open circular forms.

The finish shifts between pewter, charcoal and aged silver-tone, so the colour changes a little every time you turn your head. A round stud sits neatly at the ear, and the double hoops suspended beneath it swing freely with every movement. Pure late 70s into 80s cocktail jewellery, and beautifully at home in a modern wardrobe.

Wear them with a berry lip, a sleek knit and hair tucked back, or pair them with a soft blouse in orchid, teal or cream. With a plain slip dress and a cropped jacket they look rather excellent for an evening out.

ABOUT APRICOT GIFT BOUTIQUE This exclusive range of earrings originates from Apricot Gift Boutique, a store established circa 1984 in the heart of the beachside suburb of Mairangi Bay, New Zealand. The store was owned and operated by Colombian artist Helizabeth Borrero de King, offering a snapshot of her love of fashion, style, and all that glitters. A gift and jewellery store with a little taste of everything, it catered to a diverse group of locals, fashionistas, and supported artisans. The store was known for embracing community and culture, as well as bringing a unique overseas perspective to the area. Brought to you in this collection are some of the surviving pieces from the store's closure in the early 1990s. Each piece is unique and brings joy to the wearer.

A little silver Glomesh moment, and honestly, sometimes that is all the outfit needs. This fold-over bag is made from aluminium links with that unmistakable fine mesh texture. The finish is silver-toned with a soft, reflective surface, and the original chain strap means it can sit on the shoulder or be carried as a clutch when tucked inside. The shape is clean and low-profile, with corner hardware adding a neat little punctuation mark.

This is the kind of evening bag that works just as happily with a black dress as it does with denim, a white shirt and red lipstick. Take it wedding guest, gallery opening, dinner out, or to the supermarket if the mood strikes, because Gen X knows the good bag should not be saved for one mythical “best” occasion.

Whoever designed this print understood that florals work best when they are both decorative and expressive. Rendered in slate blue, deep burgundy, dusty rose, taupe and ivory on a background that shifts between all of them, the large-scale blooms are loosely drawn in the manner of an oil sketch. The fabric offers a fine texture and a gentle drape.

The silhouette is soft and easy. A cowl neckline pools just below the collarbone, the waist gathers in on a fine elasticated band, and a full skirt falls to just below the knee. Blouson three-quarter sleeves finish at a straight cuff. The cowl neckline and full skirt silhouette with elasticated waist are a flattering style for most silhouettes. Try a slim tan or caramel belt, or wear it simply as it is with a low wedge or Mary Jane flat.

This silk jacket has all the graphic satisfaction you could need. The grey and black vertical lines run cleanly through the body, then shift direction across the long sleeves and pockets, giving the whole piece that pleasing 80s to 90s optical play we all secretly still love. The black stitched collar sharpens the neckline, while the two covered front buttons keep the finish neat.

Wear it over a slim black column dress when you want the jacket to be your statement piece, or bring it into everyday rotation with charcoal denim, a pewter camisole and silver jewellery. This jacket will blance out a smaller top half bringing a bold sttructure. Wear belted or open to give options. A stripe this good also loves colour nearby, so try raspberry lipstick, teal earrings or a citron scarf tucked just so.

A fan of long feather style leaves spreads across the front of this evening bag, worked in black, pewter and pale gold beads, then repeats at the centre front of the matching belt. The fanned motif borrows from earlier deco lines, a look that came round again through the 80s. The bag takes a rounded pouch shape with a shaped top edge and hangs from a twisted cord strap. The belt is wide and contoured through the middle. Every outer surface is beaded right to the edges, with no plain ground left showing.

Wear the two together with a long column dress in garnet or deep teal. A pointed satin flat or a low heel will flatter the pairing better than anything with its own shine. They work apart just as well: the bag with tailored trousers and a silk shirt, the belt at the waist of a fine knit dress.

Faceted crystal beads run the full length of each drop, graduating from a small bead at the ear to a generous round at the tip, with an iridescent finish that shifts through gold, amber and the faintest rose as you move. Slim spacers sit between the beads holding the spacing even, and a link about a third of the way down lets the lower section swing on its own. Long bead drops like these ran right through the 70s and came back around for 90s party dressing, which is roughly the span this pair sits across.

Wear them with a silk blouse for textural contrast and pewter tones through the rest of your look. Or, bring out the sparkle wearing these with a little colour. Hair up or swept behind one ear gives the drop room to move.

This faux crystal necklace has softly iridescent beads, warmer honey-toned touches and darker decorative spacers giving it texture all the way around. At the centre sits a small floral feature with a sparkling stone and antiqued metal-toned detail, which gives the whole piece a pretty, slightly old-world finish.

It is a short necklace designed to sit neatly at the neckline. The mix of rounded, faceted and textured elements keeps the eye moving, while the central floral detail gives it a clear focal point. The fastening is finished with a lobster clasp and extension chain, making it easy to adjust slightly for comfort.

It has enough shimmer to work for evening, but it would also bring a bit of light to an everyday collar or simple neckline.

Cluster earrings from the mid-century era are particularly charming especially when they are displaying faceted faux crystal beads wired together in a domed cluster, each bead catching light from a slightly different angle and throwing back a soft iridescent flash of pink, blue and green. The effect is more opal than crystal, more quiet shimmer than full glitter.

Lovely with a simple outfit to bring a little light to your day.

The fabric on this jacket is genuinely something. Row after row of horizontal boucle in black, each separated by a looped white thread, and woven through every row a continuous stream of multicoloured silk in blues, teals, pinks, purples, golds, reds, greens so that the overall impression from a distance reads as a rich dark tweed and up close reveals something far more interesting. This looks like fabric someone went to Paris for!

The silhouette is softly structured and relaxed, cut in a slightly longer jacket length with a collarless V-neckline. Four gold rope-twist buttons fasten the front, with three matching buttons at each cuff. Two front pockets sit below the waist, each framed by a decorative rope braid trim along the pocket opening. The back is clean and unlined. Worn over a simple vintage blouse or a silk shirt, trousers or a pencil skirt, this jacket is simply spectacular.

This dark charcoal leather shoulder bag has a wonderfully slim envelope shape, finished with a gently pointed flap and a curved brass bar that follows the line of the closure. The leather has softened beautifully with age, giving the surface a natural variation in tone and a low sheen rather than a polished gloss.

A long narrow leather strap allows it to sit comfortably from the shoulder, while the broad rectangular body gives you useful carrying space. Lift the flap and the bag is neatly lined in black, with an internal zipped pocket for the smaller things you would rather not spend five minutes searching for. The magnetic snap keeps the front securely closed.

The charcoal and aged brass combination works with an enormous range of colours. Try it with a rust, denim, red knitwear or emerald tailoring. It would also look particularly good against patterned wool, tweed or a floral where the simple shape gives the print an encore.

Filigree jewellery is a craft with a very long history, and pieces like this are a reminder of why it has never entirely disappeared. Nine open-work flower motifs, each built from fine twisted wire in a layered dimensional form, are linked by slim bar connectors along a fine rope chain. The flowers themselves have real depth. The petals open outward in a scalloped ring around a raised centre cluster, the whole thing more three-dimensional than the photos quite capture. The metal has aged to a dark oxidised silver tone that gives the set a quiet, antique quality. Matching drop earrings complete the pair.

A set like this goes well with a simple neckline. Complimentary with a V, a scoop, and a collarless blouse where the necklace can lie delicately at the collar bones.

An uncommonly found luxury offering! This calfskin leather Holland & Holland shirt jacket, made in Great Britain and lined in Bemberg rayon, is exactly the kind of quality and craftmanship they have been know for since 1835. The leather is cool steel grey, fine-grained and smooth, with a weight and drape closer to a beautifully cut shirt than to a conventional jacket.

The shirt collar sits flat and clean at the neckline. Buttons run down the front, the cuffs close with a single button, and a neat pointed tab vent sits at each hip. The back is seamed at centre. There is nothing here that does not belong. Worn over a fine knit or a silk blouse, tucked into tailored trousers or a simple skirt, this jacket goes with almost everything and makes all of it just look that much ... better.

Grey leather has its own vibe. Not like black, which can be such an easy go to. Not brown, which is the warmer tone of a staple black. No, grey sits perfectly somewhere in the elevated city chic and slightly slightly moody colouring space. This double-breasted leather trench, cut to the knee in a cool steel grey, has the broad pointed collar and relaxed A-line ease that place it firmly in the 70s, when leather outerwear was at the height of its relevance and tailors were cutting it like cloth.

The construction is careful throughout. Topstitching runs the full length of the front panels, down the back seams and along the back yoke. The self-tie leather belt draws the waist at the back. Two large dome-style buttons fasten the double-breasted front, with two more below the waist, and each long sleeve finishes at a buttoned cuff with three small buttons. Front pockets sit at the hip. The centre back has a deep vent for ease of movement. Inside, the lining carries the in gold script: Anne Armstrong. This is truly a coat that has been kept, loved and treasured well.

This dark grey leather skirt from Hide, made by Macalisters Apparel in Christchurch, has the clean, elegant lines that makes a good leather skirt so useful. The leather is supple with a soft sheen rather than a glossy finish, and the narrow waistband keeps the line neat before the skirt falls straight through the hip to around knee length.

The tailoring is simple and beautifully balanced, with shaping through the waist and hips, a centre-back zip and a rear walking split giving enough movement without changing the straight silhouette. It is fully lined, and the original care and maker labels are still present, including the Christchurch manufacturing label.

Grey leather gives you plenty of room to play with texture and colour. Try it with an ivory blouse, a chunky knit with red pumps, or a T Shirt and ne of our unique vintage patterned scarves. This shape works particularly well if you like a defined waist with a soft yet straight line from hip to thigh.

Houndstooth never really leaves. It cycles in and out of the fashion conversation but the fabric itself that tight, precise, black and white check stays forever useful decade after decade. This midi skirt, made in New Zealand from a wool and easy care blend, wears the pattern at a classic scale: small enough to read as a refined all-over texture at a distance, clear and graphic up close. The cloth has a lovely weight and substance to it.

The silhouette is a clean pencil line, sitting from a neat waistband through the hip and falling to a midi length with a centre back vent for ease of movement. Slanted front pockets sit at the hip thankfully ... genuinely useable. The rear waist is elasticated for comfort, with a single black button at centre back above the concealed zip. Goes well with a tucked white shirt, a ribbed knit, or a leather jacket for a sharper edge. A low boot or long boot flatters the length.

A little shamrock with just enough sparkle, this brooch is traced almost entirely in iridescent diamanté, with three looping leaves, a slender stem and a larger stone at the centre. The stones shift through smoky gold, soft pink, green and flashes of blue as the light moves across them, which gives the piece far more colour than you might expect at first glance.

The open wirework construction keeps the brooch light physically and visually despite the generous number of stones. It is a lovely size for a hat, jacket lapel, cardigan, scarf or coat collar.

The sequin work on this jacket is not decoration. It is the entire statement. Thousands of silver sequins and faceted crystal-effect beads are hand-sewn across 100% pure silk in a sweeping arabesque pattern, the black background disappearing almost entirely beneath the weight of the embellishment. Up close, the variation is visible: flat black sequins building the dark forms, bright silver-tone beads tracing the scrolling lines between them with a glittering precision that photographs simply cannot do justice to.

The silhouette is relaxed and easy! A straight, unstructured cut with long sleeves and a round neckline finished with a narrow beaded trim, sitting hip-length with a gentle A-line ease from shoulder to hem. The front opens on a concealed zip. The pure silk lining carries the same quality commitment as the shell. This is a piece that understood exactly what it was made for: an entrance.

Designer Information: Jean for Joseph Le Bon was a Paris, Hong Kong, and New York eveningwear label, known for its hand-embellished pure silk jackets produced in India during the 1980s and into the 1990s. The label operated across three fashion capitals simultaneously, targeting the international occasion-wear market. Pieces turn up in collector circles and at auction, where the combination of 100% silk construction and hand-applied sequin and bead work distinguishes them from the mass-produced eveningwear of the same era.

Fine black and silver stripes run through both pieces, with plain silver lurex used at the high collar, waistband and cuffs. The top sits close through the body, long sleeves softly easing in to cuffs, and a zip running the length of the centre back. Below it the skirt opens into an A-line and falls all the way to the ankle. Worn together the two make one long unbroken column. Milady Styles made this set in New Zealand, and half a century on both pieces are still together.

Two pieces means two ways to wear it. The top goes well with almost any denim pairing or simple skirt when you want a little shine on an ordinary day, and the skirt carries a simple knit just as easily. A low heel or a long boot flatters the skirt length. Or wear the whole thing as it was made and go somewhere where you can make an entrance.

This One Step Ahead skirt takes a charcoal grey wool blend and scatters it with little flashes of red, cobalt, yellow, turquoise and pink. From a distance it is a beautiful grey skirt, then the coloured flecks start appearing and suddenly there are a dozen different directions your styling could take.

It sits neatly at the waist before opening into a wonderfully full midi shape with plenty of fabric through the skirt. There is no unnecessary bulk around the waistband, just a clean fitted top and a generous sweep below, which gives it lovely movement when worn.

Try a cobalt knit with red loafers or a daffodil yellow blouse. This shape works particularly well if you like a defined waist with plenty of room through the hips and thighs. The fullness begins below the waistband, giving the skirt a fluid movement.

This Gizelle skirt takes grey well beyond plain. The wool-blend weave is mottled through charcoal and softer grey, with tiny neps of rust, blue, yellow and red scattered through the fabric. The high waistband gives it a defined starting point, while sofy pleats shape the upper skirt before opening into a generous midi-length sweep.

That controlled pleating is what gives the skirt such a good line. It sits neatly through the waist and upper hip, then gradually releases into fullness rather than gathering directly beneath the waistband. The result is a classic fuller silhouette with plenty of movement, finished with a side zip and buttoned waistband.

Grey makes a brilliant base for pulling colour into the rest of an outfit. Try raspberry knitwear with oxblood loafers, cobalt with mustard, or a teal blouse with rust accessories. You could also pick up one of the tiny flecks in the weave with a patterned blouse, striped knit or bright cardigan tucked into the waist.

This shape works particularly well if you enjoy a defined waist with more freedom through the hips and thighs. The soft pleats give structure around the upper skirt before releasing into the fuller hem, so there is shape without relying on the waistband.

An A-line cut that sits at the natural waist and moves out cleanly to the knee, with soft pleats releasing from the waistband to give it shape. Up close the grey tweed weave is scattered with tiny flecks of pink, yellow, blue and green, so what reads as plain grey from a distance turns out to have colour running all through it. The cloth is substantial enough to hold the shape of the skirt as you move.

Those flecks give you plenty to work with. A rainbow of colour in this discreet grey skirt. Your choice of pairing will easily picking up the colour already in the weave. A low boot or long boot flatters the skirt length.

Silver sequins cover this neat little evening clutch, with clear beaded floral motifs worked across the front and a silver-tone metal frame at the top. The shape is compact and gently curved, with a kiss-lock clasp and satin lining inside. It has that lovely mid-century party bag feeling, the kind of piece that sits neatly in the hand and brings texture, sparkle and a little dress-up delight to even the plainest outfit. The beading gives the floral pattern a raised, tactile finish, so the surface has detail from every angle.

Carry it with a bias-cut slip dress, a sharp trouser suit, or a satin blouse with denim for a very good high-low moment. It would also be gorgeous with cream, pewter or cherry red for an evening out.

Silver satin with a high shine, cut generously through the body so the fabric moves rather than lying flat. The collar comes to a clean point and the front buttons up to the collar stand in pale pearl look buttons. Sleeves run full to the wrist and gather into a single button cuff. Across the back a yoke seam releases into a centre inverted pleat, which is where the ease through the shoulders comes from, and the hem curves gently at the sides.

Wear it tucked into a straight skirt as shown here, or leave it loose over something slim for a longer line. The shine does plenty on its own, so you can either keep the rest quiet with mnimalist jewels and footwear or, go nuts with oversized statement pieces that will tone down he shine. A black blazer over the top sharpens the whole thing. If you like a shirt you can move in, this one gives you plenty of room.

This soft grey vintage cardigan has the sort of knit detail that is easy to miss from across the room and much more interesting once you are up close. The front is worked with narrow vertical openwork panels and subtle laddered motifs, giving the cardigan texture. A deep V neckline leads into a ribbed button band, finished with a neat row of tonal buttons.

The raglan sleeves give a relaxed line through the shoulder, while the ribbed cuffs and hem keep the shape. It falls to just above the hip with enough room through the body to layer comfortably over a blouse, tee or another fine knit. The soft grey works particularly well with stronger colour, so try it with cherry red trousers, black skirt, a daffodil yellow corduroy or evan a patterned dress where you want a calmer layer on top.

The V neckline leaves plenty of blouson space around the bust, and the raglan shoulder allows a little extra ease through the upper arm and shoulder.

Irregular blocks of pewter and pale silver travel across this knit in a giraffe print that changes direction as it moves around the body. The pattern is knitted in rather than printed, worked in a fine lurex blend so the whole surface carries a low metallic glint. A ribbed stand neckline in plain silver sits above it, long sleeves run clean to the wrist, and the body finishes at the hip.

Love a knit with a bit of glimmer? It tucks into a full skirt as shown here, and works just as well with something narrow and dark below. Keep jewellery in pewter or silver tones so the metallic stays one idea rather than two. A tailored jacket or leather pairing takes it into evening, or flat boots and denim keep it easy.

This Dana Buchman shoulder bag has a wonderfully polished late-20th-century look, finished in a dark metallic pewter faux patent with the DB monogram embossed across the surface. The compact rectangular body is divided across the front with two useful pockets, each secured by its own substantial Dana Buchman push-lock clasp. A full-width zip runs across the top, and the long adjustable strap lets the bag sit comfortably at the shoulder or a little lower on the body.

The repeated monogram gives the faux patent surface its texture, while the gunmetal-toned finish, darker piping and chunky hardware keep the palette beautifully tonal. Inside, the red and black patterned lining is a rather fabulous surprise, with an additional zipped compartment for smaller essentials. The perfect size to carry just what you need.

Wear it with grey tailoring and cherry red shoes, or use the metallic finish against denim, cobalt, emerald or a strong patterned dress. The adjustable strap also makes it particularly useful when you want your hands free.

A herringbone style scratch print runs diagonally across this dress in charcoal and cream, broken by a mosaic tile print panel that runs the full length of the front bodice and repeats at the cuffs and hem. The neckline ties into a soft bow at the front, and the dress fastens with a concealed zip at the centre back. Shoulders are gently gathered into the yoke, with long sleeves finishing in button cuffs. The soft fabric and chevron print combined with the neckline are serious nods to the typical of dressing through the 1970s, when this kind of textured, graphic print was everywhere.

If you like a dress with soft definition through the shoulders and room to move below, this one will suit you well. Wear it with knee boots and tights for a polished look, or flats and a blazer to elevate a daily office look. Keep accessories vertical accentuating the centrepiece in pale rose or silver.

A beautifully simple Lalique heart, this Amoureuse Beaucoup pendant is formed in smoky grey glass with a softly rounded, sculptural surface and a deep heart silhouette. The grey has enough translucency to show the depth of the glass without losing that wonderfully moody charcoal tone, while the polished gold-tone bail gives it a neat flash of contrast.

It hangs from its original-style black twisted silk cord, giving the pendant plenty of length and allowing the glass heart to sit as the focal point. There is something particularly good about jewellery that does not need fussing with, and this works just as well against a crisp white shirt as it does over a fine knit, a silk blouse or the neckline of a favourite dress.

Try it against emerald, raspberry or cobalt for a stronger colour combination, or keep things pared back with dove grey, cream or chocolate. The black cord also makes it an easy piece to layer with a shorter gold chain without everything becoming too busy.

René Lalique became known for bringing materials such as glass into fine jewellery design, and the house continues that tradition today. The Amoureuse collection centres on the heart motif, with the Amoureuse Beaucoup pendant forming part of this distinctive Lalique jewellery line.

Charcoal and grey diagonal stripes run the full length of this dress, cut with a soft sheen that plays off the fabric's woven texture. A stand collar closes with a single button at the front, and the sleeves gather into cuffed wrists with a matching button. The waist is elasticated with a fabric tie at each side seam, easing into a full gathered skirt below. The gathered shoulders and elasticated waist are typical of the comfort of 80s fashion - dressing easy through the body rather than fitted.

Wear it with metallic sandals for an evening look. Try flats or boots and a plain cardigan for daytime or workwear. The diagonal stripe print pairs easily with plain black or silver accessories.

A domed faux pearl sits at the centre of this round silver tone brooch, ringed by six smaller pearls set out in a star pattern. Open filigree work fills the space between, finished with a fine beaded rope trim around the outer edge. The metal has the soft, aged patina typical of mid-century costume pieces, with hints of warmer gold tone through the filigree detail. A long pin fastens at the back, with a simple hook catch.

Pin it to a lapel, collar or the brim of a hat for a compact dose of vintage sparkle. It also sits well fastened to a scarf or the strap of a plain bag. A single statement brooch like this is easily worn alone, without extra jewellery nearby.

Soft dove grey faux suede gives this Giere Volcana Karner two-piece suit a beautifully clean finish, with the matching jacket and skirt creating one long line when worn together. The jacket has a neat stand collar, gently structured shoulders and a relaxed body that can be drawn in with the matching self tie belt. Turn-back cuffs, angled welt pockets and tonal buttons keep the detailing beautifully simple.

The coordinating skirt sits neatly at the waist before falling into a long, gently A-line shape, with discreet side pockets and a smooth waistband. Worn together, the proportions are rather fabulous, with the shorter belted jacket sitting neatly over the longer skirt. Both pieces work separately too, which gives you plenty of options without losing what makes the original suit so good.

Try the full suit with a raspberry or cobalt knit underneath and ankle boots, or add a striped top in cream and cherry red for a more relaxed combination. Wear the jacket with dark denim and a turquoise scarf, then give the skirt a different direction with a tucked-in silk blouse in emerald, plum or paprika.

This shape works well if you like the option of defining the waist without needing a closely fitted jacket. The belt lets you adjust the shape through the middle, while the longer skirt gives room through the hips and thighs. Worn open, the jacket creates a straighter line through the body, so you can change the proportion depending on what you are wearing underneath.

Turquoise leaves and citrus green blooms spill down a pale grey silk ground on this long rectangular scarf, the print built from solid, graphic blocks of colour. Blue and charcoal accents run through the florals, giving the pattern depth against the soft grey background. The silk is fine and lightweight with a gentle sheen, finished with narrow hemmed edges along all four sides. At 128cm by 28cm, it sits as a long, draping length.

Loop it once around the neck and let the ends hang loose, or knot it at the collar of a plain shirt for a simple hit of colour. It also works tied to a handbag handle or worn as a hair scarf. The blues and greens sit easily against denim, black or grey.

This El Jay jacket has exactly the sort of understated 1970s tailoring that works beautifully with a modern wardrobe. The soft grey ultrasuede has a slightly mauve cast, with a fine suede-like nap that gives the colour depth. A wide notched collar frames the neckline, while the four-button front and long straight body keep the shape wonderfully unfussy.

There is plenty of good construction to look at once you get closer. Curved seam detailing runs from the shoulder towards the chest, a horizontal back yoke gives structure across the shoulders, and two generous patch pockets sit low at the front. The sleeves are cut straight with broad cuff bands and small side splits, giving the jacket its distinctive relaxed finish.

Try it with burgundy trousers and a pale pink knit, or wear it over a turquoise shirt with dark denim and loafers. For something a little brighter, add a mustard scarf and cherry red bag. This shape works well if you like a jacket that falls straight from the shoulders rather than pulling in at the waist. There is room through the bust, waist and hips for layering, while the collar and shoulder seams give the upper body enough structure to stop the relaxed cut feeling oversized.

This silver grey dress moves in a fluid stretch knit with a soft sheen along every fold. Gathering at each shoulder lifts the long sleeves into a soft volume before the fabric falls in loose folds to the wrist. The bodice wraps to a deep wrap V neckline, a self-tie belt enhancing at the natural waist. Below, the skirt drapes asymmetrically into a tulip shape and a centre back zip keeps the finish clean, letting the draping carry the silhouette.

The gathered shoulders add soft structure through the upper body, while the wrap front and self-tie waist let you shape the neckline and waistline to suit you. If you enjoy definition at the waist without anything fitted, the tie belt gives you that shape on your own terms. The tulip shape brings movement with every step, equally suited to heels for evening or flat sandals for daytime ease. Wear it layered or alone, the long sleeves and V neckline work well either way.

This designer Doris de Pont jacket is cut from a silk with a metallic sheen, striped in silver, navy and burnt orange. The notched collar folds back in a solid red, the only break from the stripe running through the rest of the jacket. Three self covered buttons close the front, and two rounded pockets sit at the hip, each lined in the same red as the collar. The sleeves finish at three quarter length, and the jacket sits cropped at the waist, giving it a neat, boxy shape.

The cropped length and boxy shape sit just at the waist. The red collar offers a flash of colour, the three quarter sleeve pairs well layered over a long sleeve top, or worn on its own over a simple dress. The pockets are functional as well as decorative.

This dress is a study in soft drape, an easy care jersey that falls in slow folds from a wide cowl neckline into a blouson bodice. The jersey carries enough weight to hold its drape without feeling heavy, moving easily as you walk. The waist gathers into a gathered seam before releasing into a full, softly pleated skirt that falls below the knee. Long sleeves taper to the wrist, and the whole piece pulls on with no visible fastening, keeping the silhouette clean from every angle.

Styled here with the matching snake print belt, to show how well this dress takes definition at the waist. Add your own belt in leather or a soft fabric tie to create a similar line, or leave the waist loose for something more fluid.

This blouse keeps things simple, a soft grey through and through with a fine texture that feels like silk and catches the light without ever being showy. The collar sits close with rounded points, buttoning through to a gathered yoke at the shoulder that gives a little ease across the back. Long sleeves finish in a neat button cuff.

Wear this buttoned to the collar for a polished look, or open at the neck with the sleeves pushed up for something more relaxed. If you like ease across the back and shoulders rather than anything fitted, this blouse may suit you well. Tuck into trousers or a skirt for the office, or wear loose over denim for the weekend.

Two softly faceted quartz stones fall from a small stud top, each one cloudy grey with natural dark inclusions that make every surface a little different. The stones are framed in warm gold plated brass, with the Turkish designer’s characteristic raw-edged bezel setting keeping the finish organic rather than overly polished.

There is lovely movement through the double drop, but the scale stays refined enough for everyday wear. Pair them with a soft ivory blouse and dark denim, or pick up the warmer metal with cinnamon, olive or deep chocolate. For evening, they would look beautiful against black silk, smoky grey or a strong berry tone.

Three stones in graduating tones drop from a delicate gold plated hook, each one a different character within the same design story. A pale, banded stone sits at the top, giving way to a deep, inky blue, then finishing in a rich plum toned stone at the base. Set by a Turkish designer in raw, organic bezels rather than perfectly matched cuts, no two pairs from this maker are ever quite identical, which is very much the point.

Wear them with a simple linen shirt and bare shoulders for daytime ease, or let them catch candlelight against an off the shoulder top for evening. If you love jewellery with a little movement and a lot of personality, these will earn their place in daily rotation.

This blouse is a lovely example of silk, with a scattered dandelion style floral woven through in ivory and black against a soft grey ground. The stand collar ties into a soft bow at the front, sitting above a row of buttons that runs the full length of the placket. The shoulders gather next to softly padded shoudler detail into long sleeves, finished with a neat button cuff at the wrist. Made under the Michele Valery label from Paris, this piece has the kind of easy tailoring that glances past the 1970s in to the 80s.

Tuck this into high waisted trousers or a pencil skirt and let the bow sit as the focal point, no extra jewellery needed at the neckline. Add a blazer over the top for the office or wear it with wise flowing cream silk trousers for an elegant easy chic in the evening.

These mother-of-pearl screwback earrings have that lovely softly luminous finish that only shell can give, with each irregularly shaped piece catching flashes of cream, blush and pale silvery green as the light moves across the surface. A small faux pearl sits at the centre of each earring, giving the pair just enough detail without taking away from the natural texture of the mother of pearl.

Their slightly mismatched organic shapes are part of the charm, and at around 50 years young, they are a beautiful example of the jewellery details that could make even the simplest blouse or dress feel finished.

Try them with powder blue, chocolate brown or deep burgundy, or let them sit quietly against a patterned silk blouse where the pearly finish can pick up different tones in the print. They would also be lovely with a navy dress and a stack of silver bangles for evening.
