Vintage Clothing - Baby Blue Kimono - Painted Bird Vintage Boutique & The Aviary - Kimono

Powder Blue Reversible Japanese Haori Kimono Jacket in Silk Blend

$149.00

Tax included. Shipping calculated at checkout.

Soft powder blue on one side and a pale floral reverse on the other, this authentic Japanese Haori style kimono gives you two beautifully different looks in one garment. No less than 30 years young and in fantastic vintage condition, it is a true one-off with all the quiet beauty and craftsmanship that makes vintage Japanese textiles so collectible.

Cut in the classic haori style, it has kimono sleeves, an open front, and that easy drape that sits beautifully over the body. The silk-blend fabric feels light and fluid, with subtle woven texture through the blue side and a more decorative surprise on the reverse. As with many authentic haori, the construction is cleverly finished so you can enjoy either side depending on your mood, outfit, or occasion.

Style it over a fine knit and wide-leg trousers, with denim and loafers, or over a simple slip dress when you want a softer layer that still feels polished. It is especially useful if you like shape that skims rather than clings, and it works well if you prefer a bit of movement through the body, want gentle coverage through the upper arm, or enjoy a relaxed layer that frames the neckline and falls cleanly from the shoulder.

Vintage Japanese Haori

This is the most common style of kimono jacket. With kimono style sleeves made to fit over the kimono sleeve it covers, a collar piece that extends from hem to hem, an open front with a haori himo tie (obi are not used), and typically made from fabric that would also be suitable for a kimono. There are many categories of haori, defined by fabric, occasion, design and length. The natsu haori, is made in a semi-sheer synthetic or open weave silk to be worn in the summertime. Many haori have a surprise inside the lining that might be colourful unique or decorative than the outer fabric of the jacket. Most haori are reversible, with all the stitching hidden, so if you prefer the lining side, display or wear it inside out!

NOTE: We ask that you take in to consideration there may be slight variations in colour and some age marks commensurate with the true age and love of each garment. Every attempt has been made to ensure the most accurate representation in our photographs. Colors may display differently on various devices. Rescue: Flaws as described which may or may not detract when worn in most cases possibility of repair
