Shipping Policy
Pandemic Announcement:
Please note delivery of your products may be impacted by unforeseen restrictions such as a pandemic or Act of God. Once your order has been dispatched, please allow an additional 3-7 business days until you receive your order in the event courier services are experiencing delays. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, these uncertain times may inevitably create situations outside of our control.
Delivery Locations
We deliver to New Zealand, Australia, and United States.
Shipping Fees
All deliveries within New Zealand are charged at a minimum flat rate of $14 (as at 1 Jan, 2024).
Please note, any rural parcels or weight over 5kgs may incur additional postage charges* and may be added by you to your cart prior to checkout to ensure timely postage.
Should shipping costs be less than our automated system charges you - we will refund to the rounded dollar (minimum charge $10) any shipping 'overcharge' once the item has been dispatched. You will be sent an email with this refund directly prior to tracking number notification email.
Postage to Australia and United States is charged based on weight, according to the New Zealand Post International postage prices.
Please note: Shipments to locations outside New Zealand may attract import duties, taxes, sales tax, and customs clearance fees at the destination country. These costs may be payable to the carrier either before or at the point of delivery and are the responsibility of the buyer. If these additional costs are critical to the decision to purchase, shoppers are advised to visit their own country's online government resources for further information on this topic. Remember, sales tax rules and laws are subject to change at any time so be sure to check before purchasing!
Delivery Times
New Zealand
We deliver throughout New Zealand via New Zealand Post. Once dispatched, orders should be delivered within 2-5 business days, depending on your location, day of dispatch i.e. long weekend delays and any unforeseen restrictions in place by New Zealand Post at the time of purchase.
Rest of World
These orders are shipped using International Couriers via New Zealand Post, and usually take 5-15 days to arrive unless there are delays due to restrictions outside of our control.
Delivery Address
Please note PAINTED BIRD does not deliver to PO Box or Private Boxes, these orders may be subject to cancellation however we will endeavour to contact you requesting a different address where possible.
If the address provided is unattended, an attempted delivery card will be left and your parcel will be redirected to the nearest Post Office.
Tracking your Order
When we dispatch your shipment, you'll receive a copy of the tracking number via email, so you can view the progress of your parcel via New Zealand Post tracking, and this will provide you recourse with New Zealand Post should there be any issue such as damage, non-receipt, et al. In some cases, you parcel may be hand delivered to your door in which case photographic evidence of delivery may be made. We are unable to take responsibility for items once they are in the hands of New Zealand Post and/or leave from our dispatch.
Lost or Delayed Deliveries
There are times when products may take a little longer to arrive than expected; for example, weekends, public holidays, global pandemics or 'Acts of God'. If the item/s go missing entirely or do not arrive within the suggested time frames, we will do our best to assist you to rectify the situation with New Zealand Post who are ultimately responsible for the items delivery once dispatched. We ask that you contact New Zealand Post directly (using the tracking number provided) and also notify us as quickly as possible via our email address.
In the scenario that an order from Painted Bird to the customer is not delivered due to fault of New Zealand Post, it is not the responsibility of Painted Bird to replace the item with a similar piece, refund the customer in full, offer store credit or issue a Gift Card for any amount.
