Shipping Policy

Delivery Locations

We deliver to New Zealand and Australia. We are no longer able to supply to the United States due to tarriff rises of 2025. 

Shipping Fees

All deliveries within New Zealand are charged at a flat rate of $14, or $16 outside Auckland. Rural addresses, and parcels over 5kg, require additional postage, which you will need to add to your cart before checkout.

We are not here to make money on shipping. We deliberately set the flat rate a little over the expected cost, both to allow for New Zealand Post price changes and so we rarely need to contact you for more before dispatch, and then we refund what we do not use. The actual postage cost is rounded up to the nearest dollar to cover packaging and handling, and the balance comes back to you, with confirmation emailed shortly before your tracking notification. If your order fits a smaller package, that refund can be substantial. If rural postage has been missed at checkout, we may get in touch to arrange it; nothing is wrong with your order, it simply keeps your parcel moving.

Postage to Australia is charged by weight, according to New Zealand Post international prices. We are always happy to obtain a quote for you before you purchase.

PLEASE NOTE: Shipments to Australia may attract import duties, taxes and customs clearance fees in the destination country. These costs may be payable to the carrier before or at delivery and are the responsibility of the buyer. If these costs matter to your decision to purchase, please check the Australian government's official guidance before ordering, as tax rules can change at any time.

Delivery Times

New Zealand

We deliver throughout New Zealand via New Zealand Post. Once dispatched, orders are usually delivered within 2 to 5 business days, depending on your location, the day of dispatch (long weekends can add a day or two) and any New Zealand Post service updates at the time. Australia

Orders to Australia are shipped via New Zealand Post international services and usually arrive within 5 to 15 business days, subject to customs processing and any delays outside our control.

Delivery Address

Please note PAINTED BIRD VINTAGE does not deliver to PO Box or Private Boxes, these orders may be subject to cancellation however we will endeavour to contact you requesting a different address where possible.

If the address provided is unattended, an attempted delivery card will be left and your parcel will be redirected to the nearest Post Office.

Tracking your order

When we dispatch your order, you will receive your tracking number via email so you can follow your parcel's progress through New Zealand Post tracking - Track your order. In some cases your parcel may be hand delivered to your door, in which case photographic evidence of delivery may be taken. If anything goes wrong along the way, such as damage or non-delivery, please contact us at hello@paintedbird.nz and we will take it up with New Zealand Post on your behalf, as set out under Lost or Delayed Deliveries below.

Lost or Delayed Deliveries

Sometimes a parcel takes a little longer to arrive than expected, for example over weekends, public holidays, or during disruptions outside anyone's control. Every Painted Bird Vintage parcel leaves us carefully packaged and fully tracked, and you can follow its progress at any time using the tracking number we email you at dispatch.

If your parcel has not arrived within the expected timeframe or appears to have gone missing, please check the tracking first, then contact us as quickly as possible at hello@paintedbird.nz. As the sender, we will lodge the enquiry or compensation claim with New Zealand Post on your behalf, and any compensation paid by New Zealand Post for your parcel will be passed on to you. Because the remedy for a parcel lost or delayed in the carrier's care sits with the carrier, Painted Bird Vintage does not separately replace items, refund in full, offer store credit or issue gift cards for non-delivery caused by New Zealand Post.
