These mother-of-pearl screwback earrings have that lovely softly luminous finish that only shell can give, with each irregularly shaped piece catching flashes of cream, blush and pale silvery green as the light moves across the surface. A small faux pearl sits at the centre of each earring, giving the pair just enough detail without taking away from the natural texture of the mother of pearl.

Their slightly mismatched organic shapes are part of the charm, and at around 50 years young, they are a beautiful example of the jewellery details that could make even the simplest blouse or dress feel finished.

Try them with powder blue, chocolate brown or deep burgundy, or let them sit quietly against a patterned silk blouse where the pearly finish can pick up different tones in the print. They would also be lovely with a navy dress and a stack of silver bangles for evening.
