Filigree jewellery is a craft with a very long history, and pieces like this are a reminder of why it has never entirely disappeared. Nine open-work flower motifs, each built from fine twisted wire in a layered dimensional form, are linked by slim bar connectors along a fine rope chain. The flowers themselves have real depth. The petals open outward in a scalloped ring around a raised centre cluster, the whole thing more three-dimensional than the photos quite capture. The metal has aged to a dark oxidised silver tone that gives the set a quiet, antique quality. Matching drop earrings complete the pair.

A set like this goes well with a simple neckline. Complimentary with a V, a scoop, and a collarless blouse where the necklace can lie delicately at the collar bones.
