Fine black and silver stripes run through both pieces, with plain silver lurex used at the high collar, waistband and cuffs. The top sits close through the body, long sleeves softly easing in to cuffs, and a zip running the length of the centre back. Below it the skirt opens into an A-line and falls all the way to the ankle. Worn together the two make one long unbroken column. Milady Styles made this set in New Zealand, and half a century on both pieces are still together.

Two pieces means two ways to wear it. The top goes well with almost any denim pairing or simple skirt when you want a little shine on an ordinary day, and the skirt carries a simple knit just as easily. A low heel or a long boot flatters the skirt length. Or wear the whole thing as it was made and go somewhere where you can make an entrance.
