This fine wool scarf has a deep black base that sets off a tapestry-like border of jewel tones, teal, purple, copper and ember-red, with tiny motifs that read like miniature tiles. It feels like something you would find folded inside a beautifully kept coat pocket, ready for a dramatic entrance, or at least a very good coffee.

Wrap it once and let the border do the talking, or fold it into a band and tie it close to the neck with a camel coat for clean contrast. It also looks brilliant with denim and a neutral knit when you want colour that feels grown-up. Wool vintage scarves are the kind of wardrobe workhorse that makes winter dressing feel smarter without adding bulk.
