A fan of long feather style leaves spreads across the front of this evening bag, worked in black, pewter and pale gold beads, then repeats at the centre front of the matching belt. The fanned motif borrows from earlier deco lines, a look that came round again through the 80s. The bag takes a rounded pouch shape with a shaped top edge and hangs from a twisted cord strap. The belt is wide and contoured through the middle. Every outer surface is beaded right to the edges, with no plain ground left showing.

This dark charcoal leather shoulder bag has a wonderfully slim envelope shape, finished with a gently pointed flap and a curved brass bar that follows the line of the closure. The leather has softened beautifully with age, giving the surface a natural variation in tone and a low sheen rather than a polished gloss.

A long narrow leather strap allows it to sit comfortably from the shoulder, while the broad rectangular body gives you useful carrying space. Lift the flap and the bag is neatly lined in black, with an internal zipped pocket for the smaller things you would rather not spend five minutes searching for. The magnetic snap keeps the front securely closed.

This Dana Buchman shoulder bag has a wonderfully polished late-20th-century look, finished in a dark metallic pewter faux patent with the DB monogram embossed across the surface. The compact rectangular body is divided across the front with two useful pockets, each secured by its own substantial Dana Buchman push-lock clasp. A full-width zip runs across the top, and the long adjustable strap lets the bag sit comfortably at the shoulder or a little lower on the body.
