Created by Marsha Mayne, the signature label of United Fashions Pty Ltd, a Brisbane couture house operated by the Malouf family and sold exclusively through their salon Marcia Gowns at the Strand Building on Queen and Albert Streets, this dress is mid-century Australian fashion history you can hold in your hands. The steel blue iridescent satin shifts between midnight and cornflower depending on the light, and the construction is everything you would expect from a label that dressed Brisbane's best. A wide V-neckline frames the décolletage front and back, the bodice is tailored precisely to the waist, and the full circle skirt falls with that particular sweep that no modern fabric quite replicates.
