Dresses

This grey strapless dress has that wonderful party shape that makes you understand why earlier cocktail dresses still turn heads. The skirt opens out from the waist with plenty of volume and a softly rounded almost puff skirt style hem finish. The interesting floral line pattern sits across the grey background rather than over it, which gives the whole dress a lovely silvery, evening-ready feel without needing sparkle.

Wear it with pewter heels (have you seen our Metallic Pewter Leather Pumps), a silver mesh bag and a little black cardigan when you want a classic evening line, or make it a little more edgy with raspberry lipstick and a cropped denim jacket. It is a brilliant dress for anyone who likes their occasion wear pretty, practical and just a bit old-movie without needing to arrive in a limousine.

Whoever designed this print understood that florals work best when they are both decorative and expressive. Rendered in slate blue, deep burgundy, dusty rose, taupe and ivory on a background that shifts between all of them, the large-scale blooms are loosely drawn in the manner of an oil sketch. The fabric offers a fine texture and a gentle drape.

The silhouette is soft and easy. A cowl neckline pools just below the collarbone, the waist gathers in on a fine elasticated band, and a full skirt falls to just below the knee. Blouson three-quarter sleeves finish at a straight cuff. The cowl neckline and full skirt silhouette with elasticated waist are a flattering style for most silhouettes. Try a slim tan or caramel belt, or wear it simply as it is with a low wedge or Mary Jane flat.

A herringbone style scratch print runs diagonally across this dress in charcoal and cream, broken by a mosaic tile print panel that runs the full length of the front bodice and repeats at the cuffs and hem. The neckline ties into a soft bow at the front, and the dress fastens with a concealed zip at the centre back. Shoulders are gently gathered into the yoke, with long sleeves finishing in button cuffs. The soft fabric and chevron print combined with the neckline are serious nods to the typical of dressing through the 1970s, when this kind of textured, graphic print was everywhere.

If you like a dress with soft definition through the shoulders and room to move below, this one will suit you well. Wear it with knee boots and tights for a polished look, or flats and a blazer to elevate a daily office look. Keep accessories vertical accentuating the centrepiece in pale rose or silver.

Charcoal and grey diagonal stripes run the full length of this dress, cut with a soft sheen that plays off the fabric's woven texture. A stand collar closes with a single button at the front, and the sleeves gather into cuffed wrists with a matching button. The waist is elasticated with a fabric tie at each side seam, easing into a full gathered skirt below. The gathered shoulders and elasticated waist are typical of the comfort of 80s fashion - dressing easy through the body rather than fitted.

Wear it with metallic sandals for an evening look. Try flats or boots and a plain cardigan for daytime or workwear. The diagonal stripe print pairs easily with plain black or silver accessories.

This dress carries one of those soft watercolour florals that feels almost  painted rather than printed, roses in blush pink and lilac drifting across a grey ground. The neckline gathers into a self-fabric tie at the front, the cape sleeves flutter loose from the shoulder, and the waist is elasticated at the back with a long matching sash that wraps and ties for shaping. Below the waist the skirt falls into a tiered, ruffled hem that gives movement as you walk. Made in New Zealand under the Young Sophisticates label by T.G. Southwell and Co, a well known Auckland fashion house through the mid to late twentieth century, this dress carries a romantic flowing silhouette.

Let the sash do the shaping and keep the rest simple, drop earrings or nothing at all, the print carries plenty on its own. If you like softness rather than structure through the waist, the wrap tie here lets you adjust the fit to what feels right on the day. Sandals or low heels both work, depending on whether you're headed somewhere relaxed or a little dressier.

This dress is a lovely example of jacquard stripe, alternating bands of soft silver grey and ivory that catch the light differently depending on the angle, giving real depth rather than a flat print effect. A wide ivory yoke frames the round neckline, the sleeves gather into neat button cuffs, and the back closes with a single button at a keyhole opening. An elasticated waist sits under a self fabric belt, drawing in before the skirt falls in soft gathers to a midi length. The dropped yoke and gathered sleeve head are classic 1980s details.

Let the stripe carry the look and keep styling simple, swap out for a metallic belt and hoops for daytime. Pair with block heels or flat sandals depending on the occasion and let the fabric's soft shimmer do the rest.

Cut on the bias in a soft silver grey with a subtle sheen, this dress should skim rather than cling, falling in one unbroken line from a delicate double-spaghetti strap bodice to a floor-sweeping hem. The V-front neckline is simple and low, letting the fabric and the fall of the skirt carry the whole look.

Wear it exactly as is for evening, or dress it down with a fitted blazer and heels for something unexpected. A slim belt at the waist adds definition if you want it, though the bias cut does that job on its own.

A Talbots charcoal grey wool with a soft brushed feel is cool weather perfection. The neckline sits in a deep V front and back, sleeveless through the shoulder, with a fitted bodice that meets a slim self-belt at the natural waist and pockets to boot! Below the belt the skirt releases into soft pleating at the front, falling in a fuller line through the body. A centre back zip closes the dress from nape to waist.

The fit is close through the bodice with the belt marking the waist clearly, while the pleated skirt gives real movement and ease through the hip and hem. A great layering piece it's a dress that works equally well worn for the office or dressed down for an afternoon out.

Pair it with a soft contrast blouse underneath and easy loafers or, blaze in to a weekend with touches of red in a lip and heels.

Look closely at this one and the fabric gives up its secret: fine metallic threads run through the charcoal weave in soft flashes of green, gold and pink, catching the light differently with every small movement. The bodice sits close through the waist with a V neckline front and back, cap sleeves, and a fitted midriff that releases into a full, soft skirt. A concealed zip runs up the centre back to a hook and eye at the nape.

The fit is fitted through the bodice and nipped at the waist, with the skirt providing all the movement and drama below. It's a dress built for occasions where the light offers a talking point, whether that's candlelight or an evening under string lights.

Wear it with simple heels and a swipe of red lipstick for a classic take, or bring in deep emerald or silver accessories to pick out the metallic flecks running through the weave.

Vertical stripes in plum, dusty pink, ochre and soft grey run the full length of this dress, evenly spaced and unbroken from shoulder to hem. The neckline is a simple round crew, with elbow-length sleeves gathered into a soft puff at the shoulder and finished with an elasticated cuff. An elasticated waistband sits at the natural waist and releases into a peplum flounce, with the stripe pattern continuing straight through the skirt below.

Pair it with a dusty rose cardigan and cream flats for daytime, or bring the plum tone forward with a burgundy heel and simple gold hoops for evening. The elasticated waist and peplum do the shaping here, so there's no need to overdress around it.

The grounding background on this one is a soft taupe satin with a dusty pink blossom spray and pale blue butterflies woven right through, the kind of detail you only catch if you are truly lookng. The neckline dips into a wide V both front and back, and the bodice is fitted through the waist before the skirt releases into large darts that resemble soft pleating that carries a bit of ease just below the waist through the hip. Three-quarter sleeves and a side zip keep the whole thing svelte.

This dress is fitted enough through the middle to hold its shape, with just enough movement in the straight skirt to make sitting down and standing up equally comfortable.

Pair it with silver, pink or baby blue heels and a soft rose lip for something that leans into the era properly, or bring it forward a few decades with Doc Martin style boots and a biker jacket. A pewter clutch and drop earrings finish it for evening.

A two-piece scroll-stopper from UK label, Evans. The fabric is soft and slightly textured, almost lace-like under the light, printed all over with a scattered floral in dusty lavender, peach and soft plum. A ruffled stand collar finishes the neckline on the dress, fastening with a single button at the throat, and the pleating through skirt gives real movement when you walk. The jacket discreet pleating set is set off by the simple soft fabric at the bust to waist. This set will be what you wear to a Sunday lunch and quietly outdress everyone.

Wear the dress alone with the belt cinched and a pair of dove grey boots for something soft and pulled together, or add the jacket over the top for an occasion moment. Try it with amethyst tights and a sage green clutch for a colour story that leans into the print rather than away from it, or ground the whole thing with terracotta accessories if you want warmth against all that lavender. Either way, the collar and the pleats do plenty of the work on their own.

Layers of lavender, violet and grey swirl into a bold abstract floral across this Pine dress, a print with the sweeping, energy that Nordic fashion houses embraced during the 1970s. Cut from a lightweight synthetic knit prized for its drape and colourfastness, the fabric moves easily with the body. Long sleeves taper into buttoned cuffs, while the scoop neckline gathers softly into a contrast piped trim. A defined, elasticated waistband gives way to a full, swinging skirt, finished with a neat centre back zip.

The elasticated waist offers ease through the middle while still marking your shape. Raglan sleeves soften the shoulder line and sit close at the wrist, balancing the fuller skirt below. Wear it loose with boots for daytime ease, or lift it with heels and jewellery for evening. The gathered neckline draws the eye upward and flatters a fuller or more petite bust alike, offering coverage without restriction. A striking, wearable piece of Scandinavian design history.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER: Pine Original Fashion was a Finnish label producing through the 1970s, with a flowing script logo typical of European branding from the era. Its swirling, high contrast florals echo the bold Italian print movement of the decade, filtered through a distinctly Nordic hand. The soft gathering at the neckline reflects the attentive garment making Scandinavian houses were known for at the time.

Silk printed with overscale daisies in deep violet, soft periwinkle, cream and touches of sage green, this dress carries the particular vitality of mid-century textile design. The flowers are not delicate or demure: their petals are rendered with bold, almost graphic brushstroke energy, filling the fabric edge to edge with a print that feels as alive now as it did the day it was made. The construction is classically of its era, a shirt-style bodice with an open notch collar, full-length sleeves with deep turn-back cuffs secured by fabric-covered buttons, and a generous gathered skirt falling to below the knee. The original self-fabric belt, now widened, defines the waist and anchors the whole silhouette.

The gathered skirt creates fullness through the lower body, which means this dress balances beautifully on those who carry more volume through the shoulder and bust, drawing the eye down and outward through the skirt rather than holding it at the top. The belted waist is the pivot: tighten it for a defined hourglass line, or let it sit looser for an easier, more relaxed shape through the middle. Those with a longer torso will appreciate the generous length through the bodice. Wear it as it is, or layer with a simple knit or blazer in cooler months.

Paisley has a history stretching back centuries, from the woven shawls of Kashmir to the Liberty prints of London, and this dress carries that lineage. The cotton is tightly woven and dense with detail: large-scale botanical paisley forms in royal blue, deep purple, forest green and cream sweep across the fabric in the kind of intricate repeat that takes time to fully absorb. Look closer at the close-up shots and the pattern reveals itself in layers, a fine ground of micro-detail beneath the sweeping primary motifs. The bodice is pin-tucked at the front with a button placket opening to a V-neckline, the shoulder seams are cleanly set, and the fitted yoke style drop waist transitions into a pleated midi skirt with soft, fluid movement through the hem.

The pin-tucked front placket draws the eye vertically through the bodice, which is particularly flattering if you want to elongate the upper body or minimise width across the chest and shoulders. The drop waist sits below the natural waist, skimming the torso, and the pleated skirt opens freely from the hip, giving ease and movement without adding visual bulk below. A side zip gives a clean, fitted entry.

Woven from a soft lurex blend that shifts between pale lavender and mauvey-silver depending on the light, this floor-length column gown carries mid-century occasion dressing at its most assured. The silhouette is long and unbroken, falling in a clean vertical line from a rounded neckline to the hem. What lifts it decisively from the plain is the asymmetric front panel: a structured fabric tab crosses the bodice diagonally from the left shoulder, secured at its fold by a decorative brooch mount, giving the gown an architectural detail that feels both of its era and genuinely current. The lurex itself has the texture of fine woven cloth rather than costume shimmer, catching light with restraint.

The column cut skims over the body, offering ease through the torso and hips without any structured shaping at the waist. This makes it particularly flattering for those who prefer their evening wear unencumbered: the long vertical line draws the eye from shoulder to floor, while the diagonal panel detail brings visual interest to the upper chest and collarbone without adding width. Pair with strappy heeled sandals and a simple updo to let the gown and its luminous colour do the work.

Produced in Auckland by Russell Brighouse under the Sydney-based Mona Crawford Internationals label, this hostess maxi dress carries the kind of provenance that makes a collector pause. The fabric, a fine Easy Care crepe, holds a soft ivory tone that sets off the hand-applied embroidery with quiet authority. Purple corded thread spirals in continuous loops around the standup collar and again across the entire hem border, punctuated at intervals by raised gold bullion discs, densely coiled and textured like tiny medallions. The silhouette is a clean A-line, sleeveless and unadorned through the body, letting the embroidery do all the talking at the collar and hem. A back zip closes the neck opening with understated precision.

The shift-style cut sits away from the body through the bust and waist, making it genuinely comfortable across a range of proportions. Those with a fuller bust or hip will find the A-line release through the skirt accommodating, while the raised collar adds length to the neck and draws the eye upward. The clean, unworked bodice balances the richness of the embroidery so the overall effect is bold without being busy. Wear it as it was intended, as a statement piece with nothing competing, just simple gold earrings and bare arms.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER: Mona Crawford Internationals of Sydney was a distinguished mid-century fashion house with a reach that extended well beyond its Australian roots. Operating under an international licence model, the label partnered with regional producers to bring its designs to local markets, including a notable Auckland production arrangement with Russell Brighouse, whose name appears on the label of this very dress. Mona Crawford pieces were characterised by confident silhouettes elevated by hand-applied embroidery and decorative surface detail, hallmarks of a label that understood elegance without excess. Surviving pieces produced in collaboration with Russell Brighouse are particularly rare, making this a genuinely collectable artifact of mid-century Australasian fashion history.

The dress texture of this fabric is a dense, nubby boucle weave in deep magenta berry, flecked with darker tones that give the surface a depth and richness you simply do not get from flat cloth. Playgirl Exclusive was a New Zealand label making sharp, youthful pieces for women who were paying attention to what was happening in London, and this mini reflects exactly that: a clean sleeveless A-line cut with a back zip and a lining in the same warm magenta, finished with a detail that sets it apart entirely. A central front panel in soft baby pink linen look fabric runs from the deep V-neckline to the hem, threaded through with a cross-laced pink cord and silver-tipped eyelets. It is a very 1960s idea, executed with real care.

The A-line swings straight from the shoulder without nipping the waist, making this an easy wear across different builds. The open V with its laced panel draws the eye down the centre of the body, creating a long vertical line through the chest and torso. The sleeveless cut keeps things uncluttered at the shoulder. Wear it with summer sandals or a fine skivvy underneath with knee-high boots. The lacing detail is the whole point, so let it show.

Oversized botanical forms in deep violet, amethyst, periwinkle, slate grey, black and blush cascade across the fabric in a composition that looks more like a painting than a pattern, each outlined bloom pressing right to the edge of the next with graphic confidence. The 1960s style cotton blend carries the print with weight and clarity, the kind of density you simply do not find in contemporary fabrics. Cut as a sleeveless A-line shift, the silhouette is clean and direct, with a scoop neckline and a central front ruffle placket that adds vertical texture.

The A-line cut skims straight from shoulder to hem without nipping the waist, making it a particularly easy choice if you prefer fabric to move freely across the middle. The sleeveless cut keeps the shoulders open and uncluttered, balancing the visual weight of the print across the body. Pair with flat tan sandals and a single gold cuff for summer, or layer over a fitted longer black skirt or wide leg floaty trousers for something more statement. The print in this wonderful dress does all the talking.

Across a ground of soft lavender, an extraordinarily dense and fine hand-drawn paisley print unfolds in ink-outlined swirls of pink, ochre, mint and teal. The silk moves with gentle draping from a gathered roll collar, surprise pockets then through a relaxed blouson bodice, falling to a softly gathered midi skirt that shifts with every step. A discreet back keyhole closes with three pearl buttons. Long sleeves finish the picture.

The blouson bodice skims across the chest and upper torso without clinging, making this a strong choice if you prefer fabric to float rather than define above the waist. The elasticated waist draws in gently, establishing proportion without restriction, while the gathered skirt falls away from the hip.

Hundreds of tiny blue and teal daisies scattered across a deep raspberry ground, the print on this Osti Fashions dress warrants a closer look. Made in New Zealand when local fashion labels were able to produce genuinely good ready-to-wear, the fabric has a soft texture that gives the print real depth, the flowers shifting between cobalt, periwinkle and sage depending on the light. The bodice is cut with a deep crossover V-neckline, the fabric folding across itself in a clean wrap that needs no fastening. An elasticated waist draws the dress in neatly before the skirt falls in a soft A-line to midi length.

The crossover neckline is a generous silhouette. The elasticated waist accommodates without gripping, and the A-line skirt moves freely below it. Bare arms and a simple flat sandal is all this needs in summer. Come cooler months, a fine knit layered underneath or over top keeps it going well past the season it was made for.

This sleeveless trapeze dress is cut from a fine, fluid easy care fabric, printed all over in a floral built from heart shaped petals in purple, blue, pink and red. Fine sunray pleating runs the full length of the bodice and skirt, with a folded pleat detail sitting at the centre front neckline and a plain round neckline at the back. The dress closes with a centre back zip, and toward the hem the fabric takes on a lovely semi-sheer quality, letting the print glow through in the light.

The trapeze shape moves freely from the shoulder, so if you love an easy dress with plenty of room to move, this one will suit you well. Let that heart petalled print stand out, add simple bling with a stack of bangles, and step out in wedge sandals or block heels for a look that carries easily from daytime into evening.

Like a faded love letter from an old ballroom, this authentic vintage gown drifts somewhere between silver screen glamour and fairytale romance. Crafted in a dreamy dark duck egg blue, the silhouette pairs a softly structured bodice with gathered sheer shoulder draping and a sweeping full skirt that moves beautifully across the floor. The scalloped neckline adds just enough sweetness, while the fluid fabric gives the gown an effortless elegance rather than a heavy and formal seriousness.

Perfect for weddings, black tie evenings or anyone wanting their main character moment. The fitted waist creates gentle definition while the full skirt floats comfortably through the hips and middle. The gathered shoulders softly frame the neckline and balance the silhouette beautifully. The colour perfection to suit most skin tones. Add satin or metallic heels and a glass of champagne.

Rich cobalt florals bloom across a soft blush silk-feel fabric in this striking chinoiserie shift dress, finished with sculptural textured buttons and an elegant asymmetric neckline detail. Echoing the glamour of mid-century cocktail dressing, the silhouette feels both polished and playful, with its clean lines allowing the vivid floral print to take centre stage. The softly tailored shift cut skims comfortably through the middle and hips while sitting neatly across the shoulders without feeling restrictive. Layered luminescent tiers of black tulle drift over a soft powder blue taffeta lining, creating a beautifully theatrical silhouette characteristic of mid century occasion dressing. Styled by Belvera Fashions Sydney, this authentic vintage piece balances delicacy with structure through softly gathered skirts, ruched bodice detailing, and sheer illusion panelling across the neckline. The embroidered floral dot motif catches the light with scattered iridescent sparkle, while the voluminous puff sleeves reveal subtle tulle undersleeves beneath. Floating yet sculptural, the dress moves with remarkable softness while retaining the elegant shape so synonymous with formal dressing of the era.

The fitted bodice creates gentle structure through the waist before opening into a full layered skirt that allows movement and balance through the hip area. The soft bateau neckline and sheer upper bodice frame the shoulders beautifully, while the gathered sleeve construction adds softness without overwhelming the silhouette. Ideal for evening events, winter celebrations, or modern occasion dressing, this piece pairs effortlessly with satin heels, delicate jewellery, or a structured coat. Or emulate a 80s/90s look and try a denim jacket and Doc Martin boots! The rear metal zip closure keeps the line clean and traditionally tailored.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER: Operating out of their Taylor Street workshops in Sydney, Australia, Belvera Fashions was a premier mid-century manufacturing label thriving throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Celebrated for capturing classic post-war femininity, the label specialized in striking evening wear, mid-century cocktail gowns, and elegant party pieces. Utilizing the revolutionary textile blends of the era such as structural nylon tulles, flocked rayons, and shimmering jacquards. Belvera Fashions delivered dramatic, architectural silhouettes engineered to dance. Today, surviving garments from this mid-century Sydney label are beautifully preserved artifacts of Australasian fashion history, highly prized by collectors for their nostalgic charm and stellar vintage construction.

A liquid shimmer of deep ocean blue, this authentic vintage gown captures the glamour of mid century evening dressing with remarkable restraint and elegance. Cut in a statuesque column silhouette, the softly glistening lurex catches the light like the sun across water, creating movement even in stillness. The square neckline frames the collarbone beautifully, while the elongated line of the gown falls cleanly to the floor before opening into a dramatic side split. The simplicity of the construction allows the fabric to become the centrepiece, luminous, fluid, and quietly cinematic.

The structured shoulder line and elongated cut create beautiful balance through the torso, offering a sleek silhouette that skims rather than clings. Ideal for evening events, gallery dinners, winter balls, or modern bridal celebrations, this piece pairs effortlessly with sculptural jewellery and metallic or understated heels. The side split allows graceful movement while the back zip closure keeps the silhouette clean and uninterrupted. Particularly flattering for those seeking elegant vertical lines through the middle and hip area without excessive shaping.

Like midnight reflected across moving water, this dazzling sequin gown was made for dramatic entrances and dance floor moments. Thousands of deep navy sequins sweep across the surface in cascading scalloped patterns that shimmer beautifully with every step. The fluid column silhouette, delicate adjustable straps, and low scooped back create an effortlessly glamorous mood that feels somewhere between old Hollywood eveningwear and late-night disco decadence. Softly weighted by the sequin embroidery yet still fluid in movement, this is the sort of gown that catches candlelight, camera flashes, and curious compliments all evening long.

The relaxed cut skims rather than clings, allowing the sequinned fabric to drape beautifully through the middle and hips while creating long uninterrupted lines through the body. Adjustable straps offer flexibility across the bust and shoulder line, while the sweeping length gives lovely movement when walking. Pair with barely-there heels and a velvet coat for winter events, or let the gown do all the talking with minimal jewellery and slicked-back hair. A wonderfully theatrical piece for celebrations, gallery evenings, balls, black tie events, or anyone who enjoys a little cinematic glamour.

This fabulous French maxi is at least 50 years young already, and somehow still feels fresh, modern and beautifull. The print is all deep teal-blue with scattered white blooms, like hydrangea confetti across a twilight sky.

The bodice has a softly shaped V neckline, then drops into a defined waist and a gently sweeping skirt that moves as you walk. Finished with short sleeves and a rear zip closure, it’s the kind of vintage that slips straight into a modern wardrobe.

Wear it with a lilac cardi and silver sandals for daytime, or sharpen it up with a cropped acid-lime jacket and a cobalt bag for a colour-on-colour moment. For evenings, try a paprika heel and a metallic clutch, or go sleek with deep indigo denim jacket thrown over your shoulders and bright teal earrings.

At least 50 years young, this dress arrives with all the confidence of a decade of colour perfection. Periwinkle blue, teal, and olive gold, rendered in a bold oversized floral that covers every inch of a beautifully light cotton blend. It is the kind of print that has you reaching for it again and again. The dress is a straight shift, easy through the body with a gentle A-line sweep toward the hem. The neckline has a neat round finish with a small decorative button placket that adds a quiet detail to an otherwise clean silhouette.

Wear it loose and easy with flat strappy sandals in tan or white and a cane bag for a summer afternoon. Add a belt, as pictured, and the whole silhouette shifts into something tailored and defined. A woven or leather belt in olive or khaki picks up the colours in the print beautifully. For evening, try heeled mules in gold or a strappy silver sandals. If you want to lean into the print, a bold lipstick works perfectly with the periwinkle tones. This is a dress that suits a straighter or fuller figure and works especially well for women who want a relaxed silhouette that still looks polished. The print does the work and the shape gives you room to breathe.

There are pieces that arrive carrying the full weight of their era, and this is one of them. Created by Marsha Mayne, the signature label of United Fashions Pty Ltd, a Brisbane couture house operated by the Malouf family and sold exclusively through their salon Marcia Gowns at the Strand Building on Queen and Albert Streets, this dress is mid-century Australian fashion history you can hold in your hands. The steel blue iridescent satin shifts between midnight and cornflower depending on the light, and the construction is everything you would expect from a label that dressed Brisbane's best. A wide V-neckline frames the décolletage front and back, the bodice is tailored precisely to the waist, and the full circle skirt falls with that particular sweep that no modern fabric quite replicates. A  statement bow anchors the hem front with a quiet drama that is entirely intentional.

This dress is listed as a Rescue or Wounded bird. It carries a number of small possible moth or cigarette burn holes in the skirt fabric, as shown in the product images. The original cotton thread construction may also benefit from reinforcing in some areas. Worn as is with a dark petticoat underneath and in evening light, the holes are not visible without close inspection. Alternatively, this is a rare opportunity for a creative mind: the bones of this gown, the cut, the fabric, the provenance, are exceptional and worthy of reimagining into something entirely new.

Wear it to an evening event with dark hosiery and heels, a vintage pearl or crystal brooch at the neckline, and hair worn up to let the back V do what it was designed to do. The fitted bodice and full skirt silhouette is one of the most universally flattering shapes in fashion history. It defines the waist and creates balance whether you are narrower through the shoulder and fuller below, broader through the bust and shoulder, or relatively consistent from top to bottom. The skirt volume does the work. You simply wear it.

This Timer dress is a gorgeous slice of collectable Australian fashion history, with that polished department-store tailoring that was built to last. The blue-and-bronze abstract print is unique and has real style presence, while the cut keeps everything clean and wearable. Perfect for heading to lunch when you need something simple but stunning to put on.

The silhouette is a straight, tailored shift with gentle shaping through the bust, then it skims down the body without clinging. The double-breasted fabric-covered buttons add texture and refinement, and the original matching belt lets you choose your level of waist definition, cinched for structure or worn looser for ease. You could even style it creatively as a neck tie, or knot it at the ponytail for a pulled-together finish.

Style it with boots and a toffee-coloured or navy blazer for cooler months, or keep it simple with flats and a tidy shoulder bag when you want a sleek daytime look. The shape is especially good if you like a streamlined line through the tummy and hips, and it also suits anyone who prefers definition up top with a skirt line that falls straight and easy.

This deliciously flirty Italian roll neck mini is a total wardrobe mood-lifter. The sleeveless, tailored bodice keeps the line clean and sharp, while the pleated skirt brings all the movement, perfect for a lunch date, a work do, or a proper night out with the gals.

The print feels like a Monet-inspired wash of blues, soft and painterly, but the cut keeps it grounded and wearable. It is the kind of piece that brings that authentic vintage balance of fun and polish.

Style it with a cropped blazer and boots when the weather cools down, or keep it simple with flats and a bright bag. For evening, go for statement earrings and a sleek little clutch, and let the pleats do their thing.

Sophisticated simplicity. This authentic vintage dress by prestigious UK label Delphi of London is crafted from a luxurious, fine wool crepe in deep navy, offering both subtle warmth and quiet luxury.

The design is a study in refined comfort, featuring a sophisticated drop waist that creates a seamless, streamlined line just below the knee. It perfectly balances structure and ease with subtle batwing three-quarter sleeves that provide graceful movement and a distinctly feminine profile. An elegantly tailored square neckline completes the minimalist frame.

Delicate original buttons finish the sleeves and trace the side seam of the skirt, adding sophisticated detail without complexity. This is the ultimate cooler weather piece, versatile enough for any curated sustainable wardrobe. This French Castille shirtwaister is one of those proper wardrobe doers: crisp, cotton, and beautifully put together, with that easy French confidence built right in. The blue patterned print gives it personality, while the button-through front keeps it classic and practical.

The shape is a neat shift-meets-shirtwaister, finishing just over the knee, with a matching belt to bring in the waist when you feel like a little extra definition. Pockets (always a win) and original buttons make it feel a complete look.

Style it with white sneakers and a straw tote for daytime, or switch to metallic flats and a bold cuff for dinner. For cooler months, add a cropped denim jacket or a soft trench, plus boots for that polished, city-ready finish.

This David Wairren robe dress is gloriously simple to wear. Straight-cut and softly fluid, it skims the body rather than clinging, and the front zip means you can style the neckline exactly how you like it. And to top it off ... what could be better than pockets!

The print is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the best way. Crisp blue/white base, inky blue florals, and fresh green notes, so it reads polished even with minimal accessories. The fabric is easy care, so it is a genuine grab-and-go option for travel, weekends, and the days you want comfort without sacrificing style.

Worn loose it has that elegant robe silhouette. Add a belt (as shown) and it becomes instantly waist-defined and ready for lunch, a gallery wander, or a dinner that turns into dessert somewhere else.

Keep it modern with white sneakers and a bright bag, or go dressier with metallics, a head-scarf, and a simple clutch. A lime, cobalt, or soft silver belt looks brilliant here.

This vintage maxi dress is like moonlit water in clothing form, all inky navy, cobalt, teal, and flashes of green moving through that beautiful rippling print. The collar sits wide and open through the neckline, the bodice fastens through the front, and the long sleeves keep the line elegant without feeling too formal.

The waist is drawn in with the matching tie belt, then the skirt falls long and fluid to the hem. It has that lovely length that feels both dramatic and easy, with enough movement through the lower half to make it comfortable to wear while looking beautifully pulled together. The fabric has that soft easy-care feel that makes it a very wearable piece with a full-length shape.

Try bright turquoise earrings with a chartreuse bag, or wear with metallic sandals and a black bangle. For cooler weather, add a blazer in apple green, cobalt or plum keeping the look long and elegant.

This shape is great if you like definition through the waist with length and ease through the hips and thighs. It also works well if you are a bit fuller through the bust and shoulders and want the open neckline to break things up nicely. The small fabric covered buttons at the bust draw the eye downward to the skirt keeps a long, flowing, clean line. If you are a bit fuller through the bottom half than the top, the collar and shaped waist help balance proportions while the maxi skirt falls comfortably from there.
