The neckline, hem and sleeve edges are finished with a couture-level trim of black spiked beads, larger disc sequins and polished black beads, a detail that could have taken a skilled artisan days to complete. DESIGNER INFORMATION: According to New Zealand Fashion Museum: 'Patrick Steel started designing clothes in the 1970s. In 1979 the 24-year-old Aucklander was named Young Designer of the Year at the Benson & Hedges Fashion Design Awards. He went on to dress many of New Zealand's socialites and celebrities during the 1980s and 1990s.'

DESIGNER INFORMATION: A label designed and owned by Elliette Ellis. Opening her own line in 1952 on completion of studies at the Trafagen School of Fashion and following employment with a dress manufacturer, Ellis offered feminine creations for dinner and cocktail. She made a name for herself with designs a well known staple in the 1960s and 1970s. Her highly collectable designs featured through to the 1990's and can be found on high end vintage fashion collector resale sites such as 'First Dibs'.
