A labelled Park Lane Regal Mesh shoulder bag with that fabulous mid-century Australian metal mesh finish. The aluminium mesh is made from small linked tiles in a deep silver tone, giving the surface a fluid, rippled fall across the front and sides. The structured silver-tone frame has a lightly textured finish, a ball kiss-lock clasp and a slim chain handle that sits neatly over the shoulder or in the hand. Inside, the pale satin-style lining has an internal pocket and the surviving label reads Made by Park Lane Handbags N.S.W. Genuine Regal Mesh.

Carry it with a satin camisole and wide-leg trousers, a fabulous vintage dress from another era, or a cream silk blouse and pencil skirt. Bring out the colour of the bag pairing with silver jewellery. It also has excellent dinner-out look with a charcoal knit and metallic sandals.

Gunmetal metal mesh gives these hoop drop earrings a lovely textural bite, with faceted, scale-like pieces worked around open circular forms.

The finish shifts between pewter, charcoal and aged silver-tone, so the colour changes a little every time you turn your head. A round stud sits neatly at the ear, and the double hoops suspended beneath it swing freely with every movement. Pure late 70s into 80s cocktail jewellery, and beautifully at home in a modern wardrobe.

Wear them with a berry lip, a sleek knit and hair tucked back, or pair them with a soft blouse in orchid, teal or cream. With a plain slip dress and a cropped jacket they look rather excellent for an evening out.

ABOUT APRICOT GIFT BOUTIQUE This exclusive range of earrings originates from Apricot Gift Boutique, a store established circa 1984 in the heart of the beachside suburb of Mairangi Bay, New Zealand. The store was owned and operated by Colombian artist Helizabeth Borrero de King, offering a snapshot of her love of fashion, style, and all that glitters. A gift and jewellery store with a little taste of everything, it catered to a diverse group of locals, fashionistas, and supported artisans. The store was known for embracing community and culture, as well as bringing a unique overseas perspective to the area. Brought to you in this collection are some of the surviving pieces from the store's closure in the early 1990s. Each piece is unique and brings joy to the wearer.

A little silver Glomesh moment, and honestly, sometimes that is all the outfit needs. This fold-over bag is made from aluminium links with that unmistakable fine mesh texture. The finish is silver-toned with a soft, reflective surface, and the original chain strap means it can sit on the shoulder or be carried as a clutch when tucked inside. The shape is clean and low-profile, with corner hardware adding a neat little punctuation mark.

This is the kind of evening bag that works just as happily with a black dress as it does with denim, a white shirt and red lipstick. Take it wedding guest, gallery opening, dinner out, or to the supermarket if the mood strikes, because Gen X knows the good bag should not be saved for one mythical “best” occasion.

A fan of long feather style leaves spreads across the front of this evening bag, worked in black, pewter and pale gold beads, then repeats at the centre front of the matching belt. The fanned motif borrows from earlier deco lines, a look that came round again through the 80s. The bag takes a rounded pouch shape with a shaped top edge and hangs from a twisted cord strap. The belt is wide and contoured through the middle. Every outer surface is beaded right to the edges, with no plain ground left showing.

Wear the two together with a long column dress in garnet or deep teal. A pointed satin flat or a low heel will flatter the pairing better than anything with its own shine. They work apart just as well: the bag with tailored trousers and a silk shirt, the belt at the waist of a fine knit dress.

Faceted crystal beads run the full length of each drop, graduating from a small bead at the ear to a generous round at the tip, with an iridescent finish that shifts through gold, amber and the faintest rose as you move. Slim spacers sit between the beads holding the spacing even, and a link about a third of the way down lets the lower section swing on its own. Long bead drops like these ran right through the 70s and came back around for 90s party dressing, which is roughly the span this pair sits across.

Wear them with a silk blouse for textural contrast and pewter tones through the rest of your look. Or, bring out the sparkle wearing these with a little colour. Hair up or swept behind one ear gives the drop room to move.

This faux crystal necklace has softly iridescent beads, warmer honey-toned touches and darker decorative spacers giving it texture all the way around. At the centre sits a small floral feature with a sparkling stone and antiqued metal-toned detail, which gives the whole piece a pretty, slightly old-world finish.

It is a short necklace designed to sit neatly at the neckline. The mix of rounded, faceted and textured elements keeps the eye moving, while the central floral detail gives it a clear focal point. The fastening is finished with a lobster clasp and extension chain, making it easy to adjust slightly for comfort.

It has enough shimmer to work for evening, but it would also bring a bit of light to an everyday collar or simple neckline.

Cluster earrings from the mid-century era are particularly charming especially when they are displaying faceted faux crystal beads wired together in a domed cluster, each bead catching light from a slightly different angle and throwing back a soft iridescent flash of pink, blue and green. The effect is more opal than crystal, more quiet shimmer than full glitter.

Lovely with a simple outfit to bring a little light to your day.

This dark charcoal leather shoulder bag has a wonderfully slim envelope shape, finished with a gently pointed flap and a curved brass bar that follows the line of the closure. The leather has softened beautifully with age, giving the surface a natural variation in tone and a low sheen rather than a polished gloss.

A long narrow leather strap allows it to sit comfortably from the shoulder, while the broad rectangular body gives you useful carrying space. Lift the flap and the bag is neatly lined in black, with an internal zipped pocket for the smaller things you would rather not spend five minutes searching for. The magnetic snap keeps the front securely closed.

The charcoal and aged brass combination works with an enormous range of colours. Try it with a rust, denim, red knitwear or emerald tailoring. It would also look particularly good against patterned wool, tweed or a floral where the simple shape gives the print an encore.

Filigree jewellery is a craft with a very long history, and pieces like this are a reminder of why it has never entirely disappeared. Nine open-work flower motifs, each built from fine twisted wire in a layered dimensional form, are linked by slim bar connectors along a fine rope chain. The flowers themselves have real depth. The petals open outward in a scalloped ring around a raised centre cluster, the whole thing more three-dimensional than the photos quite capture. The metal has aged to a dark oxidised silver tone that gives the set a quiet, antique quality. Matching drop earrings complete the pair.

A set like this goes well with a simple neckline. Complimentary with a V, a scoop, and a collarless blouse where the necklace can lie delicately at the collar bones.

A little shamrock with just enough sparkle, this brooch is traced almost entirely in iridescent diamanté, with three looping leaves, a slender stem and a larger stone at the centre. The stones shift through smoky gold, soft pink, green and flashes of blue as the light moves across them, which gives the piece far more colour than you might expect at first glance.

The open wirework construction keeps the brooch light physically and visually despite the generous number of stones. It is a lovely size for a hat, jacket lapel, cardigan, scarf or coat collar.

Silver sequins cover this neat little evening clutch, with clear beaded floral motifs worked across the front and a silver-tone metal frame at the top. The shape is compact and gently curved, with a kiss-lock clasp and satin lining inside. It has that lovely mid-century party bag feeling, the kind of piece that sits neatly in the hand and brings texture, sparkle and a little dress-up delight to even the plainest outfit. The beading gives the floral pattern a raised, tactile finish, so the surface has detail from every angle.

Carry it with a bias-cut slip dress, a sharp trouser suit, or a satin blouse with denim for a very good high-low moment. It would also be gorgeous with cream, pewter or cherry red for an evening out.

This Dana Buchman shoulder bag has a wonderfully polished late-20th-century look, finished in a dark metallic pewter faux patent with the DB monogram embossed across the surface. The compact rectangular body is divided across the front with two useful pockets, each secured by its own substantial Dana Buchman push-lock clasp. A full-width zip runs across the top, and the long adjustable strap lets the bag sit comfortably at the shoulder or a little lower on the body.

The repeated monogram gives the faux patent surface its texture, while the gunmetal-toned finish, darker piping and chunky hardware keep the palette beautifully tonal. Inside, the red and black patterned lining is a rather fabulous surprise, with an additional zipped compartment for smaller essentials. The perfect size to carry just what you need.

Wear it with grey tailoring and cherry red shoes, or use the metallic finish against denim, cobalt, emerald or a strong patterned dress. The adjustable strap also makes it particularly useful when you want your hands free.

A beautifully simple Lalique heart, this Amoureuse Beaucoup pendant is formed in smoky grey glass with a softly rounded, sculptural surface and a deep heart silhouette. The grey has enough translucency to show the depth of the glass without losing that wonderfully moody charcoal tone, while the polished gold-tone bail gives it a neat flash of contrast.

It hangs from its original-style black twisted silk cord, giving the pendant plenty of length and allowing the glass heart to sit as the focal point. There is something particularly good about jewellery that does not need fussing with, and this works just as well against a crisp white shirt as it does over a fine knit, a silk blouse or the neckline of a favourite dress.

Try it against emerald, raspberry or cobalt for a stronger colour combination, or keep things pared back with dove grey, cream or chocolate. The black cord also makes it an easy piece to layer with a shorter gold chain without everything becoming too busy.

The Amoureuse collection centres on the heart motif, with the Amoureuse Beaucoup pendant forming part of this distinctive Lalique jewellery line.

A domed faux pearl sits at the centre of this round silver tone brooch, ringed by six smaller pearls set out in a star pattern. Open filigree work fills the space between, finished with a fine beaded rope trim around the outer edge. The metal has the soft, aged patina typical of mid-century costume pieces, with hints of warmer gold tone through the filigree detail. A long pin fastens at the back, with a simple hook catch.

Pin it to a lapel, collar or the brim of a hat for a compact dose of vintage sparkle. It also sits well fastened to a scarf or the strap of a plain bag. A single statement brooch like this is easily worn alone, without extra jewellery nearby.

Turquoise leaves and citrus green blooms spill down a pale grey silk ground on this long rectangular scarf, the print built from solid, graphic blocks of colour. Blue and charcoal accents run through the florals, giving the pattern depth against the soft grey background. The silk is fine and lightweight with a gentle sheen, finished with narrow hemmed edges along all four sides. At 128cm by 28cm, it sits as a long, draping length.

Loop it once around the neck and let the ends hang loose, or knot it at the collar of a plain shirt for a simple hit of colour. It also works tied to a handbag handle or worn as a hair scarf. The blues and greens sit easily against denim, black or grey.

Two softly faceted quartz stones fall from a small stud top, each one cloudy grey with natural dark inclusions that make every surface a little different. The stones are framed in warm gold plated brass, with the Turkish designer’s characteristic raw-edged bezel setting keeping the finish organic rather than overly polished.

There is lovely movement through the double drop, but the scale stays refined enough for everyday wear. Pair them with a soft ivory blouse and dark denim, or pick up the warmer metal with cinnamon, olive or deep chocolate. For evening, they would look beautiful against black silk, smoky grey or a strong berry tone.

Three stones in graduating tones drop from a delicate gold plated hook, each one a different character within the same design story. A pale, banded stone sits at the top, giving way to a deep, inky blue, then finishing in a rich plum toned stone at the base. Set by a Turkish designer in raw, organic bezels rather than perfectly matched cuts, no two pairs from this maker are ever quite identical, which is very much the point.

Wear them with a simple linen shirt and bare shoulders for daytime ease, or let them catch candlelight against an off the shoulder top for evening. If you love jewellery with a little movement and a lot of personality, these will earn their place in daily rotation.

These mother-of-pearl screwback earrings have that lovely softly luminous finish that only shell can give, with each irregularly shaped piece catching flashes of cream, blush and pale silvery green as the light moves across the surface. A small faux pearl sits at the centre of each earring, giving the pair just enough detail without taking away from the natural texture of the mother of pearl.

Their slightly mismatched organic shapes are part of the charm, and at around 50 years young, they are a beautiful example of the jewellery details that could make even the simplest blouse or dress feel finished.

Try them with powder blue, chocolate brown or deep burgundy, or let them sit quietly against a patterned silk blouse where the pearly finish can pick up different tones in the print. They would also be lovely with a navy dress and a stack of silver bangles for evening.

There is something wonderfully theatrical about a bag that catches the light before you have even opened your mouth to say hello. This one is woven in a lamé lurex blend, a fine metallic thread running through a soft crosshatch weave that shimmers between silver and pewter depending on how it falls. The kiss lock frame opens to reveal a pale lining with a neat inner pocket, and the single looped handle sits at just the right length to carry on the forearm or slip over the shoulder for an evening out.

This is the kind of bag that turns a plain black dress into an outfit with a story attached. Carry it with tailored evening trousers and a simple blouse for a dinner that calls for a little shine, or let it be the one metallic note against a monochrome look. If you love a handbag with genuine presence in the hand, this one delivers.

There is a particular kind of sparkle that only comes from an era when costume jewellery was made to genuinely dazzle, and this pair delivers it in full. Each earring gathers a cluster of baguette cut and round diamante stones into a flower like starburst, the facets catching light from every angle. Set in a fine steel mount with considered stone placement that tells you this is a strong statement in style.

Clip on and instantly transformative, these earrings are made for the moments when you want your face to do the talking. Wear them with a simple polo neck and tailored trousers for an evening that needs no other embellishment, or let them sit against bare shoulders with a slip dress for something a little more directional. If you love jewellery that catches the light rather than whispers, this is a lovely place to start.

This pair of shoe clips centres on a large emerald-cut faceted stone, each one framed by a double halo of smaller round diamante stones set closely together for maximum sparkle. The silver-tone setting is compact and rectangular, finished with a metal clip fastening to the reverse that attaches easily to the front strap or vamp of a shoe.

These clips will turn a plain pump or evening sandal into the main event without changing a single stitch of the shoe itself. Clip them to a simple black or ivory heel for instant occasion wear, or add them to a flat for daytime shine with none of the fuss. Because they clip rather than fasten permanently, they move easily between several pairs of shoes as the mood or the outfit calls for it.

This mesh evening bag is a signature Oroton design, its surface made up of hundreds of tiny silver-tone discs linked into a fine, fluid fabric. The frame is finished with a soft scalloped edge, closing with a trio of ball-top clasps along the top bar, and a fine snake-link chain in double strands allows it to sit comfortably at the wrist or shoulder. Inside, a champagne satin lining carries the Oroton label at the centre of the pocket.

Metallic mesh like this holds its own without needing a partner in bold colour. Let it catch the light against a tailored wool coat in charcoal, or carry it through a long evening with a fluid silk skirt and quiet jewellery. It moves easily from a daytime lunch to an evening function, adding a soft shimmer that never overwhelms the rest of an outfit.

The brand later became known for metallic mesh accessories from the early 1950s, alongside scarves, handbags, wallets and leather goods that made Oroton a familiar name across Australia and New Zealand. A proper Australian fashion staple, vintage Oroton pieces are very much the ones collectors keep an eye out for.

This beaded evening bag carries real handwork in every inch of its surface. Fine glass seed beads and silver bugle beads radiate outward in a starburst pattern across the front and back, with clusters of small faux pearls scattered throughout. The silver-tone frame is etched with a repeating rose motif along its top bar, closing with a simple twist-lock clasp, and a fine box-link chain lets it sit neatly at the wrist or across the body. Inside, a cream satin lining still soft to the touch.

An easy neutral, this bag sits perfectly against a contrasting textured dress, where the silver beading catches the light without competing for it. It carries beautifully into a long evening with wide-leg trousers and a simple vintage blouse, or tucked under one arm at a winter wedding, adding shine and elegance.

Fern fronds have been quietly turning up on fabric for the better part of a century, and it's easy to see why once you're holding one this good. Dozens of different fronds scatter across a soft silver grey ground, each one rendered in a slightly different hand, some feathery and fine, others bold and architectural, like a botanist's sketchbook pressed straight onto silk. There's something quietly familiar about it too, the fern being about as close to a native motif as vintage fashion gets on this side of the world.

Drape it loosely over the shoulders where the scale of the print can really unfurl, or fold it into a triangle and tie at the neck so a single large frond sits front and centre. The grey-green palette is endlessly easy to work with, sit it against charcoal or ivory for something quiet, or bring out the olive undertones with a rust or terracotta piece for a warmer combination.

This New Zealand-made Finesse evening bag is all silver shimmer and lovely frame-bag structure. The soft lurex body has that fine metallic surface that shifts between silver and pewter as it moves, with a decorative silver-tone metal frame, neat kiss-lock clasp and fine chain handle. Inside, the mauve-toned lining has a small internal pocket and the surviving Finesse label reads Made in New Zealand. A very good little piece of local fashion history, and exactly the sort of bag that makes getting dressed feel like an event again.

Carry it from the chain with a column dress, tuck the chain inside for a clutch shape with wide-leg trousers, or pair it with a soft blouse, denim and silver jewellery. It also works beautifully with cherry red, cream, black satin or a smoky pewter knit.

A fabulous piece of jewellery theatre in charcoal, pewter and silver, these clip-ons are built up in overlapping leaves and petals around a large clear faceted diamanté drop. Look closely and there is plenty going on: scalloped shapes at the top, long textured leaves sweeping outward, flashes of silvery finish and that oversized clear stone sitting low in the design.

They have the scale of a small brooch worn at the ear, which is exactly why they work so beautifully with simple clothes. Try them with a black knit and tailored trousers, a crisp white shirt, or against one strong block colour such as cobalt, orchid or deep green. They would also be brilliant with a sleek evening dress when you want jewellery with vintage personality.

ABOUT APRICOT GIFT BOUTIQUE
This exclusive range of earrings originates from Apricot Gift Boutique, a store established circa 1984 in the heart of the beachside suburb of Mairangi Bay, New Zealand. Each piece is unique and selected to bring joy to the wearer.

Two strands of faceted aurora borealis crystal make their way around the collarbone here, each bead catching light and throwing it back in unexpected flashes of pink, gold and green. The graduated sizing gives the strands real movement, from smaller stones near the clasp to the bold, chunky facets that sit centre front. Warm gold tone spacer beads run between each crystal, and the leaf shaped clasp fittings add a soft decorative finish to the whole piece. Nothing here has a label to trace, but the construction and crystal cut place it comfortably in the mid century decades, and it has held its sparkle beautifully.

This is the kind of necklace that turns a plain top into an occasion. Sit it high on a boat neck or a simple round collar and let the two strands do the talking, or layer it over a fine knit for daytime glamour that still feels easy. If you love colour that shifts as you move, this is a lovely way to wear it close to the face where the light catches best.

This tote makes an entrance through finish alone. The metallic pewter faux snakeskin shifts from silver to graphite to a deep bronze depending on the light and the angle, with silver hardware and a substantial buckle strap detail across the front giving it real presence on the shoulder. The scale and texture put it firmly in statement territory rather than an everyday neutral - unless that is your neutral.

Style it against soft blush pink for contrast that feels as though it compliments rather than takes over, or let it sit next to a jewel tone for something a little more directional. Mustard yellow brings out the warmth in the metallic tones, while rose will keep things gentler if you're easing into a statement piece for the first time. A strong single colour around it works better than a busy print.

This delicious little beaded handbag is vintage handiwork at its prettiest. The softly rounded shape is covered in silvery bugle and seed beads, with pale pink flowers and minty green leaves worked across the front in a loose garden pattern. The reverse is quieter but no less lovely, with the silver beading sweeping into a radiating design around a single central flower.

The detailing continues right up to the frame, finished with a kiss clasp and a beautifully beaded handle. The handle shows discolouration to the beads from age and use, which you can see in the photographs, but it remains part of the original charm of the piece. Inside is a pale satin lining with a small internal pocket, giving you just enough room for the evening essentials.

Wear it with a black column dress and silver jewellery, or let those pale pink and green beads pick up something softer such as a blush knit, sage jacket or creamy silk blouse. Branch out and take it somewhere completely unexpected such as a denim-n-crisp shirt pairing with a metallic shoe.

At least a few decades old and still looking remarkably current, this soft dove-grey mesh handbag has that wonderful disco-meets-dinner quality that works just as well now as it would have when it first went out for the evening. The aluminium mesh is made up of hundreds of tiny linked tiles, giving the surface a lovely fluidity and a subtle sparkle whenever it catches the light.

The envelope-style flap is edged with slim gold-tone metal, with a magnetic closure tucked neatly underneath. Inside, it opens to reveal an organised interior with multiple sections and zipped compartments, all finished in coordinating grey fabric. An original long fine metal mesh strap means you can wear it over the shoulder or across the body, then tuck it inside and clutch perfection in your hand when the occasion calls for something a little more glamorous.

Pair it with a black velvet dress and sculptural silver earrings for the evening, or take it completely out of its original context with a white tee, dark denim and boots. Try it against cobalt, deep plum or emerald where that delicate grey mesh becomes a rather fabulous neutral.

A little burst of vintage glamour, these clip-ons are made up of clustered pearlised resin beads arranged in a full rounded flower shape. A larger centre bead anchors the design, with smaller textured beads packed closely around it to create plenty of dimension without needing any extra sparkle. The soft silver-white finish catches the light beautifully and gives them a slightly frosted, almost moonlit look.

They are brilliant with a crisp black shirt, a cobalt knit or a rich plum dress, and just as good worn with denim and a simple white tee when you want one strong vintage detail near your face. The compact floral shape keeps them wearable while still giving you that wonderful bit of style.

Diagonal stripes have a way of making a scarf feel like it's already in motion, and this one leans hard into that energy. Bands of dusty lavender, powder blue, blush and khaki race across the silk on the bias, edged in cream, the whole thing like a rainbow filtered through a soft-focus 1970s lens. Tie it in a bow at the throat, as pictured, and the stripes fan out like petals, proof this piece was designed for exactly that kind of quiet drama.

Let it do double duty as a headscarf knotted at the nape, a long bow at the neck for a French-girl finish, or simply tied at the waist of a plain top. The palette is soft enough to sit against nearly anything neutral, but for something more stand out try it against a deep plum or a warm rust, colours pulled straight from the stripe itself.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Pierre Cardin trained under Christian Dior before opening his own house in Paris in 1950, quickly becoming known for a bold, geometric approach that favoured sculptural shape over the female form. Through the 1960s and 70s he led the Space Age movement in fashion alongside Courrèges and Paco Rabanne, and expanded relentlessly into furniture, homewares and accessories under his instantly recognisable name. His scarves carry that same appetite for pattern and colour play, cementing him as one of the most collected French design names of the era.

Two faces, one flower. Fold this square over and the same orchid blooms twice, once against a soft charcoal ground, once swallowed into black, as though the design itself couldn't decide between shadow and dawn. That's Leonard Paris all over, a house that never met an orchid it didn't want to paint in six different lights. The petals unfurl in dusty mauve and violet, outlined in cream, the sort of print that looks equally at home around your neck or knotted onto a handbag handle.

Wear it as Leonard intended, loose and full at the neck so the sheer nature of the colourways catches the eye, or fold it into a narrow band for the hair where the orchid becomes a single graphic burst. It sits beautifully against black, obviously, but try it with a bold emerald or violet. Simple is equally savvy paired with a white or cream blouse to allow the stunning print to carry the look.

Features: The fine, sheer weight of the silk and the hand-rolled hem are signatures of the house's early scarf production, and the "Tamango" signature woven into the corner is a detail collectors watch for.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Founded in Paris in 1958 by Jacques Leonard, the house made its name under designer Daniel Tribouillard, whose love of flowers, the orchid above all, became its defining signature. That orchid motif carried the label from dresses and jersey separates into silk scarves through the early 1970s, dressing women from Paris to New York and earning shelf space at Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue. It remains the house emblem today, prized for its free, unstructured form. A Leonard Paris scarf carries a genuine piece of that heritage, hand-finished and unmistakably French.

There's a particular shade of purple that belonged entirely to the sixties, somewhere between amethyst and midnight, worn by women who understood that colour could be its own kind of confidence. This little square carries that exact hue, saturated and unwavering, the sort of purple that commands a room. Fold it, knot it, let it catch the light on a wrist or a handbag handle, and it still reads as deliberate, entirely itself.

Wear it knotted at the neck against a cream silk blouse for a hit of colour against a neutral base, or loop it through the handle of a structured leather bag for a flash of violet that changes an entire outfit. It plays beautifully with warm browns and soft blush pinks, or go bold and pair it with mustard for a combination that feels distinctly mid-century. A scarf this size is made for improvisation, headscarf, hair tie, pocket square substitute, the possibilities are part of the joy of wearing true vintage.

Bold violet and lilac squares interlock across a deep purple background in a graphic grid check, finished with a generous knotted fringe on all four sides. The weave has real depth and texture underfoot, alternating flat woven bands with a raised waffle style check that catches the light differently depending on the angle. A "Made in Western Germany" label survives intact on the reverse, a lovely small piece of Cold War era provenance that adds real character to the find.

Fold it into a wide triangle and knot at the nape for a folk inspired finish, or wear it long and loose over a plain black polo to let the fringe swing freely. The violet and lilac tones sit particularly well against grey, black or soft denim, and it makes an unexpected addition tied around the crown of a cool felt hat.

Deep violet and jade weave together in a rich, textured all over print, colour breaking across the silk in dense, organic marks that catch differently with every fold of light. A crisp jade green border frames the design, with the YSL foulards Paris label stitched neatly into one corner. Yves Saint Laurent's silk accessories trace back to the house's very first scarf collection in the early 1960s, hand drawn rather than mechanically ruled, so the pattern shifts and reassembles in new ways depending on how the scarf is tied. True to the house, the silk carries real weight and a lovely fluid drape.

Note on colour: this scarf photographs with some variation across our images, the richer, deeper tone (violet and jade against black) is the most accurate representation of the piece in hand, rather than the brighter green seen in some shots.

Knot it at the throat to let the depth of colour sit close to the face, or fold into a wide band worn as a striking headscarf against plain black. The violet and jade combination works beautifully with charcoal, black or deep denim, and it makes a refined finishing touch looped once around the handle of a structured bag.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER: Yves Saint Laurent opened his own house in 1961 at just twenty five, having already served as Christian Dior's youngest ever successor. His scarves, produced under the Foulards label, grew out of the house's very first dedicated scarf collection, hand drawn designs that broke fashion convention with their bold colour and freehand geometry. A Saint Laurent silk carries the same confident spirit as his ready to wear, rich in colour and unmistakably from one of the twentieth century's most influential houses.

Neat rings of ivory and pale gold form a precise geometric grid across a pale purple silk background, framed by two solid bands that give the whole design a wonderfully architectural rhythm. There's a lovely restraint to this print, understated where so many vintage pieces reach for the bold, letting the repetition and colour depth shine. The silk carries a smooth, fine hand throughout.

Knot it neatly at the neck for a polished finish against a crisp white shirt, or fold into a slim band and thread through belt loops for a subtle graphic touch. The pale purple and ivory palette works effortlessly with tailoring, denim or monochrome dressing, and it makes a refined addition tied to the handle of a structured bag.

Cool blues, violet and dusty rose fracture across this scarf in a stained glass style abstraction, a single oversized bloom rendered in bold geometric planes rather than realistic petals. A soft rose pink border runs the length of the piece, framing the composition with a gentle warmth. Lightweight and as stunning as a painting, it reads more like art in its simplicity.

Knot it loosely at the neck to let the colour planes take centre stage against a plain white or navy top, or fold narrow and wear as a striking hair tie. The cool blues and rose tones work beautifully with denim, grey or soft pastels, and it makes an elegant wrist wrap for an unexpected finishing touch.

Deep aubergine silk carries a dense batik style floral in soft white and rose pink, leaves and blooms tangled together in the traditional wax resist manner. A diamond motif border frames the design before giving way to a fine striped panel and a generous knotted fringe. The layered patterning has real depth and hand crafted character, with a lovely tactile softness to the silk itself.

Drape it long over the shoulders for a bohemian layer against a plain dress, or knot at the hip as an unexpected sarong style belt over wide leg trousers. The aubergine and rose palette brings warmth to white, cream or soft grey, and the fringed edge adds movement whether worn loose or wrapped twice as a cowl.

Bold horizontal bands of jewel toned pink, purple and teal run across this Pierre Cardin silk scarf, each colour block framed crisply in navy for a striking, architectural effect. The silk has a smooth, substantial hand, with the designer's name printed discreetly within the stripe.

Fold it into a wide band for a graphic headscarf, or knot it long down the front of a plain black dress to let the colour blocking take the lead. The saturated palette works beautifully against denim, white or head to toe black offering a bold statement.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER: Pierre Cardin spent seven decades reshaping fashion, moving from tailoring apprenticeships in Vichy to becoming one of the great futurists of twentieth century design. Best known for his space age silhouettes of the 1960s, he was equally driven by business instinct, building one of the first true global licensing empires in fashion history. A Pierre Cardin silk scarf carries that same architectural confidence in miniature, bold colour, clean structure and a name that helped define an era.

A joyful ribbon of colour, this Oscar de la Renta silk scarf runs deep magenta, cobalt, jade and gold in fine vertical stripes across an unusual half circle shape, one edge finished with a neat centre slit for easy tying. A playful yet luxurious accessory with real presence.

Loop it through the centre slit and knot at the throat for a ready made cascade of colour, or drape the half circle over one shoulder for an unexpected, sculptural finish. The rainbow palette lifts any outfit you pair it with for a thoughtful riot of taste.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER: Oscar de la Renta spent decades dressing the world's most elegant women, building a house on the promise that clothing could be both disciplined and joyful at once. His silk accessories were never an afterthought, they carried the same appetite for colour and movement as his eveningwear, often pushing beyond the expected square or rectangle into shapes like this striking half circle. A piece like this reflects his willingness to treat a scarf as sculpture as much as accessory, playful, considered and unmistakably his own.

A pair of soaring cranes stretch their wings across a rich magenta ground, rendered in bold silhouette against a pale ivory panel etched with fine wave detailing. Lightweight and fluid, with a lovely soft sheen.

Fold it into a neat band and wear as a headscarf to let the crane motif take centre stage, or knot loosely at the neck over a plain black top for graphic impact. The perfect gift to someone you love wishing the sentiments that cranes signify!

Trent Nathan himself led the label for four decades, known for his flamboyant eye and his gift for turning colour and texture into a story on the body. The brand grew to become one of Australia's best regarded fashion houses, later sitting alongside international names like Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein under PVH. A Trent Nathan piece carries real pedigree, and this paisley silk square is a beautiful example of that legacy in miniature.

Bold vertical bands of teal, magenta and burnt orange march down this scarf, each stripe carrying its own micro pattern of dots, diamonds and beading. A dramatic ikat panel breaks through the geometry with a smoky, watercolour blur of plum and gold, while the reverse reveals a moody floral in black and magenta. Vibrant, versatile and full of personality.

Wear it long and loose down the front of a simple dress for instant drama, or tie at the wrist for a flash of pattern against a plain sleeve. The colour depth works beautifully with a multitude of colours drawing teh eye to whatever tone that makes you happy. It also makes a striking hair wrap twisted through a low ponytail.

A striking find, this scarf scatters bold beetroot silhouettes in deep magenta across a dark inky back ground, each root vegetable topped with a flash of mustard leaf. Playful and graphic, it reads like a mid-century kitchen mural turned into wearable art. Lightweight and easy to knot, with a crisp hand that holds its shape.

Tie it as a neat neckerchief for a pop of colour against denim or knits, or use it to band a straw hat for an unexpected garden party twist. The rich magenta pairs beautifully with black, olive or camel, and it works equally well knotted onto a handbag handle for a playful finishing touch. The perfect gift for a gardener!

Jewel toned checks in plum, teal, garnet and moss weave together across this cotton lurex blend, each square catching a thread of gold that flickers as the fabric moves. The weave has a lovely tactile texture, substantial yet soft, finished with a generous fringed edge that swings with every step. A wonderfully wearable piece of colour and craft.

Fold it into a triangle and tie at the nape for a folk inspired finish, or drape it long over a plain black coat to let the fringe and colour do the talking. Beautiful against denim, tweed or a simple knit, and equally striking looped twice as a cowl for extra warmth.

A deep aubergine ground blooms with teal, coral and gold florals, scattered butterflies drifting across one panel before gathering into a dense botanical border. The fine wool blend offers a soft, substantial hand, warmer than silk yet still fluid enough to drape with ease. Delicate striped edging frames the design with old world neatness.

Knot it at the throat for instant colour against a plain coat, or fold into a wide band and wear as a headscarf for a bohemian edge. Its jewel tones sit beautifully against denim, black wool or a simple polo neck, and it doubles easily as a slim waist tie over knitwear.
