Donations and ReSale

We love to support you helping to save our unique fashion history.

Did you know that a massive and growing 34.9million kg of clothes are dumped in New Zealand each year? In 2022, this made up for nine per cent of Auckland Council’s landfill
Up to 70% of our textile donations dropped off elsewhere could, and very often do; end up in landfill?! (Tearfund)

If you have a treasured item that no longer sends you to raptures, why not donate via Painted Bird Vintage? We are happy to receive donations at any time of items over 30 years old thus saving much loved historical garments from a demise in spaces less suited for resale of quality vintage and retro garments.

We passionately believe in 'raising the bar' for vintage clothing in New Zealand. We believe helping our historical garments to reach a new 'forever home' to be seen, worn and enjoyed further helps to do this. Re-circulating vintage, retro and secondhand clothing is one of the best ways to provide a sustainable shopping option to our communities and more importantly - our Earth.

New shopping habits can be easily created!

We continue to re-home much loved vintage donations to us and are happy to make arrangements for you to drop off or, post these items to us.

We carefully sort, in some cases repair and endeavour to rehome true vintage and retro whenever possible. If you have donated vintage items to us, they can result in a portion (less costs) of the sale amount going to the charity of your choosing should the item eventually sell within one year!

PLEASE BE AWARE We do also carefully select items to be sold on behalf. To see if your items are eligible, please email us the photos of the item/s, purchase details (where and when, any photos of you or your relative wearing the item - we love to hear about your experiences and fashion history), along with your name and phone number so we can contact you.

We will contact you within 5 business days to let you know if we think your items may be suitable to sell on your behalf in our Online Store. Once we have the items to hand or have made arrangements to view, we may also forward our resale Agreement document for your review, action and acceptance.
